How can people be so heartless. This has me crying. I sometimes feel that humans do not deserve the wonderful friendship and faithfulness of canine companionship.
I have a plaque next to my desk and it reads.

If you can always be cheerful
If you can sleep without drugs
If you can relax without alcohol
If you can start the day without caffiene
If you can take blame without resentment
If you can resist complaining
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it
If you understand it if your loved ones are too busy to give you time
And if you can overlook it
When those you love take it out on you
when through no fault of yours, something goes wrong
THEN my friend you are almost as good as your dog.

Here in Australia, cases of cruelty recieve such small penalties and sentences that it is a joke. The RSPCA work hard to bring perpetrators to justice and animal sanctuaries are stretched to capacity while the people who commit such cruelty get off with little more than a slap on the wrist.
This makes me so mad.
