Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death
Los Angeles (CNN) -- Dr. Conrad Murray, whose involuntary manslaughter trial starts next month, has hired a new lawyer for his legal team.

Los Angeles lawyer Nareg Gourjian will assist lawyers Ed Chernoff and J. Michael Flanagan in defending Murray, who is charged in pop star Michael Jackson's death.

A document filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday said Gourjian is replacing Joseph Low, who is leaving the Murray defense team.

Gourjian is a former of associate of Mark Geragos, a lawyer known for high-profile criminal cases. He helped Geragos with those cases, including Chris Brown's domestic violence charge and the trial of Scott Peterson, who was convicted of killing his wife.

Gourjian currently represents Joe Finley, an "America's Got Talent" prospect whose wife was found dead last fall at a Los Angeles hotel.

Murray is accused of killing Michael Jackson in June of 2009 with an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.

The defense lawyers and prosecution will meet for a hearing Tuesday to discuss discovery motions and other issues as they prepare for the start of jury selection on March 24.

Judge Michael Pastor ruled last week that the trial can be televised.

RT @_Ylvette Dr. Murray hires new lawyer. Check out the name of his firm. It's the same Mark Gregaros from MJ's 2005 trial.. interesting.

    Hi suspicious mind...what did you do again? <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

I saw this earlier and thought of MJ's 2005 trial. Some believe that this parallels the trial and we all know that Mr Messereau was hired to replace Mark G.

The person who was replaced is indeed connected to Mark Gregaros, which is interesting.

I also found that Mr Messereau was hired in April 2004 so I'm not sure there is any significance for the dates other than having one lawyer replaced.

oh just one of my mess up the post and be stuck with no where to go with it.
i was going to post just reading on discovery and jump on an article that was more specific to (of all things) false accusation charges and not what murry is charged with.

you know it seems like there was a little remark by this fanagan about someone refering murry to him but he diclined to comment who it was. i thought that was interesting.

Was Mr Oxman replaced or just banned? I am not sure - just asking, but I thought I had read that near the end Mr Messereau banned Mr. Oxman from court.

Yes, that's what I was remembering. Was he not replaced with someone else? Just fired?
  • yeah i am not really sure about oxman. i do remember someone mentioning about him snoozing during court.
and about gregarous(sp) i wonder if it was possible he was dismissed as representation so that he could be called to testify as i think he did end up doing. don't quote me on that one but i guess it is something we could verify somehow (the testimony part that is , not the motivation <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) --> ).
  • So where does Sneddon fit into this plan? I can almost see him lurking in the shadows ready to pop out like a Jackass in the Box.

Apparently, this Lawyer, also worked with Michael Jackson, and is it just a co-incidence that it happened to be In February 2003, that MJ changed lawyers to Messarau

Mr. Jackson hired Mr. Geragos in February 2003, when the accusations surfaced that he might have molested the boy, a cancer survivor who was then 13.

Mr. Jackson dismissed Mr. Geragos in April 2004 because the lawyer was apparently too busy defending Scott Peterson against charges of killing his pregnant wife, Laci. Mr. Peterson was subsequently convicted and sentenced to death.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Michael Jackson's Ex-Lawyer Considering Asking Judge To Remove Dr Conrad Murray's New Attorney From Case/b]
    Posted on Feb 15, 2011 @ 12:30PM

The lawyer who helped win Michael Jackson’s acquittal on child molestation charges is considering asking a Los Angeles judge to stop another attorney from being added to the legal team of the pop star’s former doctor, who is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Nareg Gourjian is joining forces with Conrad Murray’s lawyers Ed Chernoff and Michael Flanagan, who are preparing to defend the doctor at trial, beginning on March 24.

Gourjian is a former of associate of Mark Geragos, a lawyer known for high-profile criminal cases, including Chris Brown's domestic violence charge and the trial of Scott Peterson, who was convicted of killing his wife.

Herein lies the problem, as RadarOnline.com has learned.

Gourijian was also an associate of Geragos' law firm and worked on Jackson’s successful defense during the late singer’s infamous 2005 trial, where he stood accused of seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent to a 13-year-old male.

Gregaros is so concerned that a former member of his team, who was privy to the King of Pop’s personal information, is now working to defend the man accused of killing him.

“Mark is concerned about the conflict of interest because Nareg worked on Michael's molestation defense,” the source told RadarOnline.com.

“Nareg was privy to details about Michael Jackson's life that were never made public.

“This is very, very bothersome to Geragos.

“Mark is considering filing paperwork with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor stating he believes there is an obvious conflict of interest.

“Nareg knows that Mark is concerned about this."

Murray is accused of responsibility for the pop icon's death on June 25, 2009 by administering an overdose of the powerful sedative Propofol, with which Jackson was being treated to help him to sleep.

There is a pretrial hearing in Dr. Conrad Murray's case this afternoon
, but the embattled doctor won't be there.

Geragos could appear in person at the hearing to detail his concerns to Judge Pastor.

    This cannot be another coinkidink???

Perfect, just perfect. Bring it on.
Even the same month of the year, when MJ re-hired another lawyer....

Murray has the same Layyer that represented MJ at his child molestation trial...

This whole thing just gets more and more bizzare!
  • I can see a conflict of interest problem myself.
    Might be a wise decision.

Since I am from Texas I will go out on a limb here and
say that I do not think this particular type of high profile
    case
would never see a court house as Ed Chernoff stated
    in that youtube Vid.
That is really stretching it a little bit there.

Actually, our courthouses are backed up with a lot of BS type
law suits that SHOULD never see the light of day...and these
    are everyday people. lol

In other news I found this last night...most of you all
may have seen it I dunno.
    I found it quite interesting.
It could be argued by both sides....and sorry but IMO it is
    typical for California's "investigating."

Hey Glad you enjoyed it! ; )

No doubt! If things were not heating up and controversial....
it just would not be a Michael Jackson thing.
    His whole life was/is like that. <!-- s:mrgreen: -->:mrgreen:<!-- s:mrgreen: -->
