TV and all the crap it shows can be blamed for that pretty far. And that's exactly what should be done to TV - smash it. I find it hard to believe that such a thing would be so important, but sadly for some it true. Such people are SO lost and unhappy deep inside.

I have a friend...she's 1,78 (meter) and she has 58 kilos, thin as a model. Indeed she almost doesn't have breasts but the push-up bra helps her "build" some LOL. And most of the men I know admire her. I don't even want to sit next to her with my 1,58 height.....I feel so small and uninteresting LOL.... The fact is men won't be "charmed" by our witty conversation or our intelligence and unfortunately it's not entirely because of the TV commercial...it's just because they are how they are, let's face it.

The fashion industry is a multi BILLION $$$$ dollar industry. ...and it didn't get that way by preaching "love your natural self" :? It's a business....and they will do whatever it takes to make money. It is a profit driven psychology. And it's not just fashion and beauty....they get into your whole lifestyle psyche. It's about what you drive, where you live, what you own...everything from designer baby shoes, premium coffees we drink, to the IPhone you have in your hand. IMAGES MAKE MONEY And it's not just women...men buy into the hype just as much. Cars, boats, recreational vehicles, gadgets, video games, etc...etc...and they are just as vain as women. That's why there's such a huge market for "hair transplants" and sexual enhancements. It's really sad that we've become a society that values the outward appearance much more than what is on the inside. It is something that needs to be changed, but how do we accomplish this when these images are already indoctrinated into our children so very young? .....a few weeks ago my 8 year old niece came to me and asked me if she was fat (she was being teased at school for having a little tummy bump)...it broke my heart into a million pieces, I just wanted to scream! /scream/

Thanks for these videos Nightowl. The elite have done this the past several decades, not only to work on breaking up the traditional family but also to get us to have low self esteem plus probably other reasons (money, etc). There is so much more to beauty than just looks (intelligence, wit, bravery, talent, and most of all love), and many in society will say that is true, but then allow these campaigns to continue (actually to get worse). People are affected by it at a subconscious level and don't even know it for the most part. I want to do this to my tv sometimes crash/

I watched 1/2 and 2/2. Quite fascinating! It brought tears to my eyes when I saw almost everyone of those ads. Women in suggestive, vulnerable, embarrassing and degrading poses all to sell a product. I'm a bit conservative, although from Hawaii where we wear our bathing suits 90% of the time. The point she made about women being turned into objects such as beer bottles, cars and video games just kills me. Little girls led to believe that a woman's physique is all that matters. I'm so tired of living in such a sick and decaying society. We worship a system for the dead that desperately seeks company: our well being, our souls.

My cousin told me a year ago her toddler keeps on repeating "Hellllooo kitty!". It's sick. Here's a documentary of it: Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood

Kids are a huge target group for advertizers. Once you get the kids want something, they can nag, throw tantrums and all the rest of it and the parent often ends up buying the product. They do the presuasion work instead of advertizers. I'm glad the Consumer Agency here forbids degrading ads like those in "Killing us softly" and has some strict rules to what is tolerated in advertizing towards children.

I wrote that because I used to be her size when below 30 y. Then I bought a car. I'm now much older, and 15 kg heavier than she is, but I don't envy her. I'm lean and in good shape, more muscular than she is. Our difference is that I like to eat well. A male collegue joked (in a loving manner) when having lunch together that I eat mens portions. LOL! So you're 1,58 tall, but you have more choice of men than us tall women: a lot of men don't like women taller than they are (and vice versa, I must add). But why would you bother whether other men admire you or find you interesting, you have a husband.

Nightowl, you do not know how good you made me feel after watching this video! I am a person who is generally accepted lines itself and over the years. But I can not deny the frustration that causes these girls to see divine advertisement, and look at yourself. It is terrible as the model that we sell perfection, makes all we want to imitate, reaching some extremes to risk their own health. Thanks for sharing. /bravo/

[size=12pt]IMHO...true beauty can only come from within. Our outward appearance is merely a shell or a wrapper if you will...and I think that people drawn only by that are very, very shallow. I've known people with the financial means to have all the "work" done on them in the world...nip here...tuck there...inject this...remove that...and so on...but even after all of that they were sadly still miserable human beings. What good does it really do to dress up the packaging if the gift inside is still rotten...you know? When I look in the mirror and see that I don't look as great as I did at 30...or even 40...I'm a little bummed about it but I don't let it get me down. I know that for every little wrinkle or gray hair that pops up that it represents a life experience and quite possibly a life lesson that I made it through and hopefully learned from. I'm personally happier knowing that what's inside me is what's beautiful...even if the packaging is a little worn...

Of course, she's married too and she has a child, we use to joke about it all the time, I don't really care LOL. And you are right, she was telling me how difficult it was for her to find somebody of her height.
