ZEITGEIST, A MUST WATCH

A MUST WATCH!

Zeitgeist, the Movie is a 2007 documentary film by Peter Joseph about historical and modern occurrences, including the origins of Christianity, the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and the banking system.
A sequel, Zeitgeist: Addendum, advocates a technology-based social system influenced by the ideas of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project.

Part I
Part I, entitled "The Greatest Story Ever Told," questions religions as being god-given stories, arguing that the Christian religion specifically is mainly derived from other religions, astronomical facts, astrological myths and traditions, which in turn were derived from or shared elements with others. In furtherance of the Jesus myth hypothesis, this part argues that the historical Jesus is a literary and astrological hybrid, nurtured politically in the interest of control.
This section was based on a variety of writers and film makers, including the 19th century poet and amateur Egyptologist Gerald Massey, the mythologist Joseph Campbell and the D.M Murdock (Acharya S), who has published a companion guide.
Horus, an Egyptian Sun God, is introduced as having a number of attributes similar to that of many of the religious deities which came after him, including but not limited to Attis, Krishna, Dionysus, Mithra and Jesus Christ; these attributes include a virgin birth on December 25, twelve disciples, burial for three days, resurrection, and performing of miracles.
The film expounds upon its claims about attributes in common. To explain the origin of the common December 25th birth, the film shows that as the winter solstice is the shortest day of the year with the shortest hours of sunlight (in the northern hemisphere), three days after the solstice the hours of sunlight can be seen to be increasing. This marks the birth of a "god of light" or Sun God. Another Christian-astrological similarity, according to the film, is that the three stars in Orion's belt (called the "Three Kings") align on December 25 with Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, and point to the Sun's rise on the horizon. This time is equated to the nativity of Jesus, where, according to the popular Christian myth, three "kings" follow the star in the east to locate the place of Jesus' birth. Furthermore, around December 25, the Sun rises in the vicinity of Virgo, the constellation known as Virgin, which refers to the origin of Jesus' virgin birth. Comparison of sunset in the vicinity of Crux with Jesus' death on the cross is based on a similar principle. In addition, parallels such as walking on water (reflection at dawn/dusk), helping the blind see (without light there's nothing, black; with light, one can see again) and turning water into wine (ripening of grapes) are shown as metaphoric miracles, explained as the influence of the Sun.
Arguably the most important fact shown is that of the thirty-odd historians living in and around the time of Jesus Christ, none mention him. Three mention, in few lines, "Christos" which is a title meaning "anointed one", not necessarily Jesus. A fourth was proven to be fake over a hundred years ago. This lack of evidence for a supposedly important figure, underlines the artificiality of the Jesus story.
Christianity is thereby argued to be a Gnostic myth, historicized by the Roman Empire for social control of Europe through doctrines established at the First Council of Nicea. The Dark Ages, the Inquisitions and the Crusades are presented as events which maintained Europe's submission to The Vatican through Christianity. The following is said in conclusion: "Christianity, along with all other theistic belief systems [...] empowers those who know the truth, but use the myth to manipulate and control societies. [...] It reduces human responsibility to the effect that "God" controls everything, and in turn awful crimes can be justified in the name of Divine Pursuit. [...] The religious myth is the most powerful device ever created, and serves as the psychological soil upon which other myths can flourish."

Part II
The 9/11 attacks are the subject of Part II of the film.
Part II, entitled "All the World's a Stage," uses integral footage of several 9/11 conspiracy theory films to illustrate how the September 11 attacks were either orchestrated or allowed to happen by elements within the United States government in order to generate mass fear, initiate and justify the War on Terror, provide a pretext for the curtailment of civil liberties, and produce economic gain. These claims include that the US government had advance knowledge about the attacks, the response of the military deliberately let the planes reach their targets, and the World Trade Center buildings 1, 2, and 7 underwent a controlled demolition. The film claims that six of the named hijackers are still alive, that Hani Hanjour could not have flown Flight 77 into the Pentagon, that no substantial plane wreckage was found at two of the three crash sites, that the Bush administration covered up the truth in the 9/11 Commission Report, and that the mainstream media have failed to ask important questions about the official account.
However, in a March 17, 2009 article, the New York Times, after noting that the first Zeitgeist film "may be most famous for alleging that the attacks of September 11 were an 'inside job' perpetrated by a power-hungry government on its witless population," goes on to say that this is a point of view that Mr. Joseph said he has recently "moved away from." Peter Joseph later clarified this statement as a "misquote" on his movement's website forum and continues his support for a new 911 investigation.

Part III
Part III, entitled Don't Mind the Men Behind the Curtain, argues that three wars of the United States during the twentieth century were waged purely for economic gain by what the film refers to as "international bankers". The film alleges that certain events were engineered or were allowed to happen as excuses to enter into war including the sinking of the RMS Lusitania (a factor in the US decision to enter World War I two years later), the Attack on Pearl Harbor (which was the opening attack of the Japanese on the US in World War II), and the Gulf of Tonkin Incident (which led to the escalation of the Vietnam War).
According to the film, the US was forced by the Federal Reserve Bank to become embroiled in these wars, not with a view to win but to sustain the conflict, as this forces the US government to borrow money from the bank, allegedly increasing the profits of the international bankers. The film gives a history of the Federal Reserve, claiming it engineered the Great Depression to steal wealth from the American people and was responsible for the assassination of Louis McFadden, a congressman who attempted to impeach the Federal Reserve Board. The film then goes on to claim that the Federal Income Tax is illegal.
This section also claims the existence of a secret agreement to merge the United States, Canada and Mexico into a "North American Union" and to replace the Canadian dollar, United States dollar, and the Mexican peso with a new currency, called the "amero". The creation of this North American Union is then alleged to be a step towards the creation of "One World Government", which would be formed by the merging of the North American Union, the European Union, the African Union and a hypothetical Asian Union. The film speculates that under such a government, every human could be implanted with an RFID chip that would be used to monitor individuals and suppress dissent. The film ends with several quotes from Carl Sagan, Bill Hicks and others.

I don't agree with the religious part because it tends to discredit religions and make people think that it is a man's invention which is wrong. Religions have actually been corrupted and twisted but the message of God is still present printed in our hearts. We know where to find the Faith.

    agree with you on that..
  • I do believe that "religion" is man made because there are too many different types guided by too many different principles. One always believing theirs is better than any other. That in itself proves it is man made. However I do believe in the Bible and in God's word. To me, they are two completely separate things.
  • 1. BE AWARE OF LIES, Peter Joseph as well as some others have their roots in Germany which mean a lot, trust me...
The two secon parts of zeitgeist are true because we see them, what he tells in the first part is rubbish, it is only there to make us believe that religion is BS and Jesus wont help us in the end..meaning: if riots and other criminal things happen, we dont think of the Bible anymore=thou do as thou will(from the Satan bible=yes, my dea ones, theres also a satan bible)
    2. Alex Jones ancestors are all from germany..i dont say they all are liars, just pay attention..also Alex jones has 80% truth and the 20% rest are dramatic phantasies of him.
    3. watch the Arrivals, this is also good , but the story with the 12 Bloodlines form the Imams is totally untrue.

Rubbish? That is a statement. And how would you KNOW that?

Next time, use "I think" instead of claiming that YOU know the truth of the world.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

  • Why put your energy in things that have no power, you give up yourself, get it back, trust in the Word of God and fear no evil, which is in the 3-d part of this is it. Think of one commandment. Which one? How does it reflect you and what are you going to do to change the outcome to please the LORD our God, whose Throne is in heaven

  • Sorry to say this but...

Zeitgeist is a good movie for a first aproach, but it´s full of lies and the debunking of them is everywhere.
I remember a web talking about its lies giving all the sources and talking about the people behind.
Really interesting, but I can´t find it now.
I´ll try to find it. Meanwhile I give you the link of an interesting blog that I found instead:

Movie "Zeitgeist": Illuminati Critique or Psy-Op?

    Take care with the Psy-Ops!

I don´t say it´s not worth seeing it, has a lot of trues. But it´s not gospel and it seems precisely that kind of disinfo mixed with info to mess and miss lead...
We can take the main message.
  • I´ve found the analysis:

I accuse. Who is behind the Zeitgeist?

I see those things as a really good sign.
    First step we realize.
Then we look further and don´t trust any source till we study and come to our own conclusion...

I don´t think this analysis is right either, but at least I know that things are really complicated,
and just switching the conspiracy chip doesn´t resolve everything.
It just mean that I have the radar ON.
It´s all really hard to know.

  • That´s why I think this is disinfo.
It´s so easy to debunk as it seems, that just in one shot everthing is a lie.
So truth and lies remain debunked together.
We can´t trust nothing but our common sense.
That´s the best card we have against all this madness.
  • A Jay Kinney review:

    Zeiting the Geist
The latest bit of guerrilla media to take the online universe by storm is "Zeitgeist, the Movie." Clocking in at close to two hours' length, and with over a million views on Google Video since its June 26th "official" release, Zeitgeist is a grabby, cranky, can't-stop-watching-it documentary that purports to tell the real truth about Christianity, 9/11, and the International Bankers.

Exactly who is behind the video is unclear, although someone with the moniker of "Peter J." has posted an online letter claiming credit and explaining Zeitgeist's message to those who may have somehow failed to grasp the worldview that the video hammers home.

And what is that worldview, pray tell? Religions in general, and Christianity in particular, are primarily systems of social control. 9/11 was an inside job and the destruction of the WTC twin towers and building 7 were aided by controlled demolition. And finally, International Bankers, through the Federal Reserve and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), control our money and our future, leading to, ta da, the coming One World Government and the microchipping of everyone.

Exactly how all this fits together is left to the viewer's imagination or, presumably, the film-maker's hash pipe. Are those who manipulate Christianity for control purposes in cahoots with the Bankers, and were the Bankers in on the 9/11 caper? Zeitgeist sidesteps such logical questions through the use of the all-purpose term, "the elite," a shadowy group of rich and powerful men who want nothing more than to enslave humanity and reap block-buster profits through the promotion of wars and financial crises.

For conspiracy buffs, this is all pretty standard fare, and, indeed, aficionados of the genre will find little new in "Zeitgeist." The notions that most religions were originally a kind of solar worship, and that the Jesus Christ story recapitulated the mythos of numerous other "dying gods," were floating around in the late 1700s. Fittingly, the video features a quote from Thomas Paine reducing Christianity to warmed-over sun worship, which was a daring bit of religion-baiting 200 years ago, albeit not so earth-shattering today.

The nefarious International Bankers meme has been propagating itself since at least the mid-1800s and has long been a mainstay of radical right-wing circles where it has often overlapped with mutterings about Jewish cabals.

The 9/11 truth segment of the video is, of course, of much more recent vintage, but, here too, it mostly repeats accusations that have gotten widespread play in the uber-skeptic milieu.

Breaking new factual ground is not what Zeitgeist is about, however. Rather, the video is a powerful and fast-acting dose of agitprop, hawking its conclusions as givens. Unfortunately, like most propaganda, it doesn't play fair with its intended audience. At times, while watching it, I felt like I was getting Malcolm McDowell's treatment in Clockwork Orange: eyes pried wide open while getting bombarded with quick-cut atrocity photos.

At other times, Zeitgeist engages in willful confusion by showing TV screen shots of network or cable news with voice-overs from unidentified people not associated with the news programs. If one weren't paying close attention, the effect would be to confer the status and authority of TV news upon the words being spoken. Even when quotes or sound bites are attributed to a source, there's no way to tell if they are quoted correctly or in context.

Late in the video, there's a supposed quote from David Rockefeller, which, if genuine, would be an astounding confession of complicity in mass manipulation. But, of course, the quote is not sourced or dated, which renders it useless. (The video's website does feature a Sources page, but a hodge-podge list of books, with no page numbers cited, is of little value for source verification.)

The over-all temper of the video is rather like the John Birch Society on acid, with interludes by Harry Smith. Incongruously, after spending nearly two hours trying to scare the bejeezis out of its viewers, Zeitgeist ends on an oddly upbeat note, telling us that Love -- not Fear -- is the answer, We are all One, and featuring sound-bites from Ram Dass and Carl Sagan.

It's a shame, really, that Zeitgeist is, ultimately, such a mess. There are plenty of legitimate questions about what transpired on 9/11, just as there are plenty of shady doings in international finance or puzzling aspects of religious history, for that matter. And what is coming down in the name of National Security is truly unnerving. Yet, bundling them all together in disjointed fashion does justice to none of them. Time and again, Zeitgeist maximizes emotional impact at the expense of a more reasoned weighing of evidence. But, perhaps that's the intention.

I've often pondered about what it might take to snap everyone out of the walking dream we collectively entered on 9/11/01. Just as the fall of the Berlin Wall provided the emotional pivot for the end of the Cold War, only a collective experience of an intensity equal to that of 9/11 might jolt us awake as to what is really happening in the corridors of power and certain undisclosed locations.

It's my hunch that Zeitgeist is one attempt to provide such a jolt, and it does indeed pack a certain punch. Too bad it also runs off in three directions at once, and is so indiscriminate in its sources and overly certain of its conclusions. Zeitgeist may be powerful, but its power is tainted with some simplistic and pernicious memes that have already received more propagation than they deserve. The video's producer does inform us that "It is my hope that people will not take what is said in the film as the truth . . ."

    Indeed.
