Splash News OnlineConrad Murray will travel to Los Angeles and surrender to law enforcement if charged in the death of Michael Jackson, his lawyer told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

"In the event of charges being filed in connection with Michael Jackson's death it would be much cheaper for tax payers if I am able to surrender Dr. Murray myself," Murray's lawyer Michael Flanagan tells RadarOnline.com.

"I am hoping the DA will make the right decision and allow me to do this."

Murray currently resides in Texas. There are rumblings that the Los Angeles District Attorney's office is preparing to criminally charge Murray in connection with Jackson's August 2009 death from "acute propofol intoxication." Murray admits he administered the drug to Jackson on the day of the singer's death.

Legal ace Flanagan is prepared for his client to charged as early as next week and would prefer to surrender his client rather than have law enforcement come get him.

"I believe the DA would be inclined to allow me to surrender him, but they have no control over the LAPD who have the final decision on what to do with Dr. Murray if he is charged," Flanagan told RadarOnline.com

"Dr. Murray is currently in Texas but if I am told by the DA to have him in a courtroom where he will be formally arraigned he will be there."

Flanagan also says he has had "very limited contact" with the DA's office and does not definitively know if Murray will be charged.

    IF he will be charged? Weren't they saying a couple weeks ago, he IS (supposedly) going to be charged? They're running around in circles, one minute they say he WILL be charged & should be arrested soon. Then he's not arrested & you don't hear anything about it. Then they say they don't know if he will be charged. What?!!

    BULLLL SHIIIIIIT! Until I see Murray wearing handcuffs and a striped outfit I will not believe any story about this investigation. How about LAPD (once they finish their doughnuts) holding a press conference so we can hear more from the chief or whoever? HOw about that for starters! <!-- s:evil: -->:evil:<!-- s:evil: -->

    Wow you can tell this article isn't legit. They don't even have the correct month that MJ passed away. Hello it was June not August. <!-- s:roll: -->:roll:<!-- s:roll: --> Two month difference really? I never even heard of this news source before Splash News Online. <!-- s:lol: -->:lol:<!-- s:lol: --> Yeah okay they need to quit splashing lies over the internet. <!-- s:!: -->:!:<!-- s:!: -->
  • LMAO @ Died in Agust.....Oh REally?! What a mess..... <!-- s:lol: -->:lol:<!-- s:lol: -->
  • Sounds like this whole thing even has them a bit confused! <!-- s:lol: -->:lol:<!-- s:lol: -->

    And as for Murray being charged, wasn't he supposed to be charged last October? I'll believe it when I see it.
  • I am so confused about Dr Murray...I mean, is that or isn't that his name???? Is the black guy DR. Murray or the white guy (on the website) DR. Murray?? I'm so confused....
  • <!-- s:?: -->:?:<!-- s:?: -->

    surrender to law enforcement

    Just thinking, didnt MJ surrender to law enforcement for his 2005 trial is this a similarity?

    Just saying <!-- s:roll: -->:roll:<!-- s:roll: -->
  • My common sense will not let me accept that this man, Conrad, was a real doctor. Any and every doctor in the world knows how to perform CPR. That he didn't and calls himself an MD is ludicrous. What a bunch or horse shyt.

    The latest from CNN:

    Prosecutors have not announced any charges, however, and Murray has not been told how or where he should surrender, according to Miranda Sevcik, spokeswoman for Murray's legal team.

    And from A/P

    Dr. Conrad Murray, who has a practice in Houston, came to Los Angeles last weekend and spent Tuesday afternoon meeting with his newly assembled team of three lawyers. The district attorney’s office has not said if it will file charges but lead defense attorney Ed Chernoff said Murray is ready for such a move.

    “I haven’t received any phone call from anybody asking for the doctor to surrender,” Chernoff said. “If we get the call, we’ll be happy to.”

    David Walgren, the deputy Los Angeles County district attorney handling the case, declined to comment.

    Sounds like a delay tactic to me. No comments from the LAPD, not sure if they'll file charges, blah, blah, blah.....
