Michael Jackson's family is launching a legal bid to bump up the charges against his former doctor.

Lawyers will file an application with the LA District Attorney to change involuntary manslaughter against Dr Conrad Murray to a homicide charge.

Dr Murray, 56, was bailed this month after pleading not guilty to manslaughter and was allowed to keep practising medicine. He faces court in April.

Jacko, 50, died last June. Dad Joe said: "I'm seeking justice for my son."

  • Well the source is the Mirror and that is a tabloid, so who knows whether it s true or not, I would imagine that this new information would be on the news.
  • Bumping up the charges is risky because the prosecution will have to prove that Dr. Murray intended to murder Michael. The lesser charge is easier to prove. It will be interesting to see if the family is successful with this effort.

Yes... its a funny one. I dont even know it is possible to increase the charges now. I would think it would be legally impossible.
And as you said.. if they did would they not risk Murray walking? Unless they know something we dont know which they keep hinting at!!!

And the Jacko thing.. that is a tabloid British thing. To be honest, i think most British lay people regard "Jacko" as a harmless nickname and dont look beyond the meaning. In all honesty, i didnt know MJ hated that name until recently and i just thought it was a nickname, a shortening of his name. Lots of people call me a shortened version of my surname too... and its meant in affection.
Dont take it too much to heart. xx
