Unusual slow forum ... again?

Just realized how slooooooow the website got .... besides from having to log in every other day (although I chose to "be automatically logged in every visit") it seems to take ages to load a thread. Is it only me?

Or do all the new features causing this? They are nice, but ...

Yep. Slow for me too. Hope it can be fixed! For me it went slow when Souza added new features a couple of weeks ago.

It will also randomly not work at all after I've been on. I will get the spinning wheel of death (that's what I call it) and then a message will pop up that says "Can't find server" and it won't work unless I use a proxy server. I just learned what proxy servers are all about. I don't like to use them though, because it doesn't remember what I've read and not read on threads.

Ditto regarding the new features. Navigation is a bit frustrating.

It's not the features, it has been slow at certain times since the hack, maybe there is something in the database that slows down, because I have reinstalled the forum twice (without features) and as soon as I attach the database to the new installation, it get's slow again. I am looking for solutions, but until then I am afraid the forum is slow on certain times. It's fast now.

About the logging in again: I have the same problem and I also know where it comes from so I will fix that when I have time.

You mentioned the hack, Souza. Could the hackers set some kind of data spy to controll who logs in?

I am not a pc or net expert but had a very bad experience in the past with hackers and they are able to break in even with the strongest virus protection.

No, I doubt they even would have had time to do that. It's the settings of the MySQL. Working on it.

Okay, just had contact with the host and the guy I talked to said that the MySQL (where the database is stored) needs to be upgraded since the forum is getting so big, to explain it in simple language. He said he should be able to fix it today, so let's see if it will be better tomorrow or later on this day.

  • Thank you Souza for your hard work. I also would like to know how to keep the toolbar off? It is a little anoying when you want to submit and it pops up <!-- slolol/ -->lolol/<!-- slolol/ --> Don't get me wrong, I love it, when I need it I click to maximize it, or minimize it. When I minimize the toolbar it should stay that way unless I click maximize. Unfortunetely it stays at maximize all the time. I don't know if others have the same problem. thanks for listening.

That's weird. I just tried it and it stays minimized here.

Not me, I am wondering if it is my lap top that is giving me this problem. It is a new lap top so I don't understand. I have no clue. thanks

Thanks for the info, Souza. <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) --> It would be great if the problem could be solved soon.
