Michael Jackson - Murray's Lawyers Win Extra Hearing
22 December 2010 12:16

Lawyers representing MICHAEL JACKSON's doctor CONRAD MURRAY have won an extra court hearing to ask for medical items found in the late star's bedroom to undergo vigorous testing as they battle to clear the physician's name.

The medic has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter following the singer's tragic death last year (09) and he is expected to go on trial in 2011.

A coroner ruled Jackson died of cardiac arrest brought on by an overdose of anaesthetic Propofol, and Murray's lawyers want two syringes and an IV bag, found at the star's Californian home, to be tested to determine the amount of drugs they contained.

Defence attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, argued in legal papers filed in a California court last Friday (17Dec10), "An essential fact in this case is not only how much Propofol was in Michael Jackson's body but how it was put into his body."

A judge has now granted the request for an extra hearing to decide whether the items should be sent back to the laboratory, according to the Associated Press.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor will hear the arguments on 29 December (10), just days before Murray is due in court for a preliminary hearing on 4 January (11) to determine whether he will stand trial.

    Interesting. I thought that hearing would have been held on October 26, but we never heard anything about it.

    "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

    this is interesting "but how it was put into his body." now, isn't this something Murray should know?
    ...duh, he said he gave it to him, did he forget how he did that as well as not knowing how to do CPR...

    this is all just way to funny to me right now.

    I guess the following news story is just a joke then and not true. <!-- m -->http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/musi ... -sale.html<!-- m -->
    Michael Jackson's fatal drugs syringe 'to go on sale'
    The syringe that allegedly administered a fatal dose of drugs to Michael Jackson is reportedly set to go on sale for $5 million (£3.3m) in Las Vegas.

    The needle is believed to have been obtained secretly and is apparently being offered around Las Vegas auction houses.

    Michael Jackson's family are said to have been informed by lawyers representing the unnamed seller and are reportedly desperate to stop the sale.

    The bizarre artefact could go under the hammer on June 25 – the first anniversary of the singer's death in Los Angeles.

    His personal doctor, Conrad Murray, 57, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after allegedly administering drugs such as Valium, lorazepam and propofol to the troubled star.

    An autopsy found that Jackson died from "lethal levels" of propofol, a powerful anaesthetic. The syringe set to go on sale is said to be the one used to administer the fatal dose.

    A source told The Mirror: "This is one of the sickest lots ever put up. The syringe is no longer needed in the inquest or in murray's forthcoming trial but the moral implications don't bear thinking about.

    "The guy who has possession of the needle has been in meetings with his legal team, making sure it is legitimate and his to sell. The plan is to flog it for up to $5 million in a big Vegas casino but he's been told he may have to sell it somewhere that doesn't have 'reciprocal legal agreements with the United States', such as Brazil or even Libya.

    "The validity of the sale is a matter of interpretation, dependent on whether the DA believes a crime has even been committed. Rumours are leaking thick and fast and the Jackson family are aware of the auction plan.

    "They are furious and incensed that someone is yet again trying to profit from him. It's an incredibly distressing time for them."

    Dr Conrad Murray denies the manslaughter charges and will go on trial later this year.

    Great point. There WERE security cameras right? Whatever happened to those... it is only logical for these to be included in the trial as evidence. Unless.... <!-- s:lol: -->:lol:<!-- s:lol: -->

    could be. But on the other hand they can just be lost forever and never be brought up which probably will happen. how frustrating .

    Alveras. The fam fired him because he failed a back round check they gave him after a decade of faithful employment...
  • Guys please tell me..what do you expect from the trial?? I guess most of you are with me believing Michael is alive and hoaxed his death. So this trial HAS to be a fake, or?? But..why all that much effort...why is it supposed to last at least 2 weeks and now TMZ reported there will be 30 witnesses to testify? Why all that?
    Wouldn't it go an easier way? <!-- s:? -->:?<!-- s:? --> <!-- s:? -->:?<!-- s:? --> this is what really confuses me..
  • Is it just me, or did TIAI redirect to this thread today (12/28)?
    Hm....

    Nothing about this hoax has been the easy way. I believe the trial and court proceedings to be staged, yes. Here's a thought, Liberian Girl video had a cast of 33. 34 if you count Bubbles. TMZ lists the count at approximately 30 witnesses.

    Buckle up Angela and hang on tight. The next few weeks are going to be a wild ride.

    Bec, I wish I had your confidence! I'm holding back and not getting excited yet - been there too many times before.

    From the outset, when Murray mysteriously went missing just after MJ 'died', I've had my beady eye on him, but so many court hearings so far have been 'disappointing', delayed, only about medical licence or child support, that much as I'd love it all to be kicking off now, I have no idea if the time is right (from MJ's hoax point of view) to actually get down to the nitty gritty and bring MJ's 'death' into the court proceedings!

    Fingers crossed yes, but I won't be surprised if things are dragged out yet again, both today and on 4th Jan.
