DR. CONRAD MURRAY
Sentenced to the Maximum
11/29/2011 7:43 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
<img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://c.gigcount.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.11NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEzMjI1OTUwNTY1OTEmcHQ9MTMyMjU5NTA1OTE4MSZwPSZkPSZnPTImbz1kOGJiNjQwZjE*NWY*ZDEzYTAwNmQxODA4/MzY4ZDk3MiZvZj*w.gif"; />video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
Judge Michael Pastor threw the book at Dr. Conrad Murray, sentencing him to 4 YEARS IN PRISON. But Murray will not spend a single day in prison because of a new California law. He'll serve his time in L.A. County Jail. And in jail, at most Murray will only serve half the sentence.

As for restitution, Judge Pastor ordered Dr. Murray to pay "appropriate restitution" to the Estate and to MJ's kids at a later date ... but the judge seemed dubious about the $100 million request by the prosecution.

Judge Pastor ruled Murray must pay an $800 fine, a $30 court security fee, and a $40 criminal conviction assessment.

Judge Pastor said, "There are those who feel Dr. Murray is a saint. There are those who feel he's the devil. He is neither. He's a human being."

Judge Pastor says it's irrelevant to him that Michael might have met this fate with some other doctor. The fact is, Pastor said, Michael Jackson died because of the actions of ... Dr. Murray."

The judge said he looked at Murray's whole life, and he was impressed. But he added Dr. Murray's recklessness with Jackson overshadowed the doc's good deeds, calling the treatment, "a cycle of horrible medicine."

The Judge noted, "Dr. Murray engaged in a recurring, continuous pattern of deceit and lies."

The Judge was incredulous, saying far from being remorseful, "There's umbrage and outrage on the part of Dr. Murray against the decedent." The judge was making note of Murray's critical comments about MJ in his recently-aired documentary -- a documentary which apparently bit Murray in the butt.

In the end, the judge said, "Dr. Murray abandoned his patient," calling his conduct "egregious" and "a disgrace to the medical profession."

Brian Panish, attorney for Jackson family, read a statement: "We still look at each other in disbelief. Is it really possible he is gone?" The statement goes on ... "We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do here today that will bring Michael back." In terms of the sentence, the family said: "We respectfully request you impose a sentence that reminds physicians they cannot sell their services to the highest bidder."

Prosecutor David Walgren, who asked the judge to impose the maximum, 4-year prison sentence, reminded the judge ... Dr. Murray repeatedly lied to authorities about the events in the bedroom where Michael died. He also noted the recklessness of Murray's medical treatment. Walgren called Murray's treatment a "pharmaceutical experiment." Walgren said, "The defendant was playing Russian Roulette with Michael Jackson's life every single night."

Walgren also asked for $100 million in restitution for MJ's kids, because that's what Michael Jackson would have made in the "This Is It" tour. Walgren also wanted Murray to pay a fair amount for the $1.8 million funeral.

Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, told Judge Pastor, Dr. Murray did not want to address the court, but the lawyer said no doubt Jackson's death is a tragedy that demands punishment, but Murray's "book of life" is much better than this one chapter. Chernoff noted Murray was born "dirt poor" in Grenada and led an exemplary life that made him a cardiologist. But Chernoff noted Murray "will always be known as the guy who killed Michael Jackson." Chernoff did say, "Michael Jackson was a drug seeker, and Dr. Murray was wrong in providing it."

As for restitution ... Chernoff shockingly never addressed the obvious -- that Jackson is worth more dead than alive. All he said was Murray couldn't afford to pay it..

Even if he got lifetime prison or death penalty, in the end it doesn't resolve anything. Michael is not here...

Why do people think that because Murray has got 4 years in jail means that we have to wait for 4 more years too? I don't get it. :?

Maybe you should take the time to think and reflect and not just react. It shows to me that you don't understand the hoax...and you forget everything in just a few minutes.
  • Remember Michael said in TII 4 MORE YEARS. that was in 2009.. so 2 yrs has passed, there will be another 2 yrs left. As per the article Murray will be doing half, meaning 2 yrs. There must be a significance of some sort. the yr of 2013.. I am not sure when Michael will come back, those 4 yrs he was talking about had a significance, not that the world will end something more.. Ironic that Murray will be out in 2 yrs with good behaviour..

I have to agree.
At the end of the day, the sentence doesn't really change anything does it. We knew Murray was to be sentenced today.
It could have been anything from probation to 4 years (although probation imo wasn't an option).
But there HAD to be a sentence. It wasn't as if the judge was gonna turn around and say 'hey Murray, you've been a naughty boy, but
I like your hair and you're rockin that suit today, so i'm gonna let you off'. Or something equally absurd.

Nothing has changed. And dont forget Murray will appeal that guilty verdict.

Keep the faith xx

Posted by TMZ at 7:43 am PT... lol

Sentence was read at 9:52 am PT, so TMZ intentionally changed the time.

And Book of Life is VERY interesting. Those written down in God's Book of Life will be saved.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

  • "Four years to get it right"...What if that jus meant Murray would get 4 yrs in jail? I can't see this draggin on for 4 more years. Murray is already "convicted", what will draggin this out more years prove? Will anyone, even die hard believers care as much? I'll never stop believing in MJ. But I can tolerate only so much.
  • he won't spend that long in "jail". they have already started the appeal process, what good does that do? I don't think the conviction will be overturned.

It's funny, Walgren's opening remarks stated EXACTLY what they were doing:

They are making Murray an "example" aka scapegoat. he is taking the fall for the corrupt medical field.
He's going to "jail" for every doctor who has ever manipulated the system.

For every doctor knowingly and willingly getting patients addicted on drugs that they didn't need, enabling the addicted and now following procedures.

I'm sure MJ has an agenda in all of this somewhere....

Now that I think about it, I'm starting to believe that this whole case scenario is just to kill time in order to get the REAL deal....meaning the actual ones who were conspiring against MJ. There are plenty of other ppl that Arnold Klein listed to be suspect....if he's not a suspect himself ....Truth and time tells all.......

They posted at 7.43 AM saying they will be streaming live, then kept updating the same article while the original hour remained the same. They didn't change the date.
  • To me the 4 year sentence means what Michael warned us in TII.The 4 years to get it right, expires in 2013.This could be the rise of the NWO and the beginning of Armageddon. The reference to The Book of Life, was also a clue.He needs our help to reverse the system of evil.I believe he will BAM before the shit starts to hit the fan.A lot of people believe Tupac will resurface by 2013.There could be a triple BAM.I will patiently wait for u Michael,in the meantime,i have to ready myself for GODS return.Evil can not defeat us,as long as we have GODS armor.

Did we really think that Dr Murray would walk out freely today? And for that then to be shown on the media cameras? Come on people, let’s think this through.

The media has shown us a “real” court. Now after all this, do we honestly think that the media was going to show us Dr Murray walking out a free man? NO!

He is going to “prison” now because that’s what is “portrayed” in the media. And remember, just because you see it on a media camera does NOT mean that it’s true.

Well, maybe not. The guy who was at the press conference with Walgren and Brazil (Cooley??sorry) said that the court has 120 days to file a petition asking for reconsideration of whether or not the new law which qualifies Murray's crime for jail time instead of prison time, EVEN applies to his crime.

I think they have to have proven malice or evil intent, but...the sheer amount of points of negligence and disregard for the patient--just within the standard of care, seems to suggest CM PURPOSELY gave blatantly irresponsible care, which sounds like malice or at least intent--whether they have ever proven a reason "WHY". They might have to re-try the case afraid/, just because CM's crocodile tears about his "friend" fooled all the attorneys into thinking it COULDN'T HAVE been on purpose...a COLDblooded murder for hire... albino/ ???/

120 days is by March 28 2012. If they file it today, we should hear the ruling on it in at least 2-3 months. maybe even by the time they hold the restitution hearing, if Murray is going to the Big House, after all, AND for the entire four years.

The law, as MANY have already pointed out, is a dangerous law, suggesting a light sentence for even murders, just to keep prison populations down. Perhaps MJ 's purpose is to get this law overthrown, and if the legislature won't do it, and no one wants to do an initiative petition, they'll just have to pile up case after case of these "revisits" until they are sick of it, and a higher Court THROWS it out...

Just sayin', it ain't over til it IS over... ;D

Justice for Michael....... he is just playing his part by continuing the "Illusion" that MJ created..

I still believe there is a reason for this..and its not that we have 4 yrs to get it right.

We can't overlook the fact that Murray is a Freemason, is involved in the secret societies TS has been talking about.

Maybe he is really guilty of attempting to kill MJ, but couldn't go through with it...

So its a set up.....the real murderers are still free, and the rest will fall into place, and all will be revealed soon.......god bless and keep the faith.

Yes I think along those lines as well. Important matters are going on behind the curtains and this trial allows this to happen. So I see this sentencing as a need to have more time to achieve these goals.

YES INDEED. Idk if it was a coincidence or not but I was JUST about to go home (in 5pm traffic) when I randomly decided to go to one of my favorite stores ...forever21. Out of all days, tell me why I came across two shirts which stated: "The TRUTH SHALL set you FREE...John 8:32" and the 2nd shirt said Give, pray, BELIEVE, FORGIVE, LOVE(in big and bold letters)& unite. Isn't that something??? I attempted to post the photos because I took them w/my cam phone but the site says that the files are too big:( Anywho, before then, I was feeling like everything was just over....somewhat skeptic as to what to believe. But listening to track #14 of the Immortal album, I realized that everything is still just one big hoax and NOTHING has changed. I "remember the time" when before this case even took place where I wasn't aware of what MJ was trying to get us all to see....Now I know and for that I'm happy and feel free. No turning back now! /woohoo/
  • love the book of life comment. this is a HUGE clue. unsure why so many on this forum are loosing faith...

murray was convicted. what did they expect from sentencing???
all part of the plan. big picture.
