A MICHAEL JACKSON tribute concert due to take place in Rome, Italy on the first anniversary of the King of Pop's death has been cancelled, following furious protests from the singer's brother RANDY.
The 'MJM Tribute' was due to take place at the city's Stadio Olimpico venue on 25 June (10) - exactly a year after the Thriller hitmaker passed away - and was reportedly set to star Jackson's brother Marlon, Missy Elliot, Joss Stone, Akon and Dionne Warwick.
Concert organisers also claimed the Thriller hitmaker's dancers, who were set to appear in his This Is It Shows, would perform pieces from the tour that Jackson was rehearsing before his death last year (09).
But last month (May10), Randy Jackson blasted bosses behind the proposed event and called for it to be scrapped.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, Randy wrote, "I have some serious concerns about this tribute to my brother on the 25th of June in Rome... I have... concerns... First, where are the proceeds from ticket sales going...?? Second, the coordinator is telling fans that my brother is alive & will be there in disguise.... That deeply disturbs me... My family has plans to be at Forest Lawn (cemetery in Los Angeles, where Jackson is buried) on the 25th of June...
"I am outraged at the insensitivity and self-promotion of the tribute organisers."
But now Randy Jackson has announced the concert has been axed and has thanked his fans for rallying against the show.
In a Twitter.com post, he writes, "I also want to thank all of u (sic) for supporting me in an effort that has resulted in the cancellation of the tribute in Italy on the 25th."
No reason was given for the cancellation as WENN went to press.<!-- m -->http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/st ... ed_1146908<!-- m -->

................perhaps, because tribute concerts (on a death date) aren't generally produced for someone who is alive. <!-- s --><!-- s -->
I guess what really matters is the REASON behind the tribute; as long as they don't promote is as a tribute to honor MJ cuz he died; then tis okay.
Exactly!!! Oh this is getting more exciting all the time
The organizer of this event is a person already known in various Italian forum for impersonating someone who knows many things, but it is actually a fake that has tried to mirror on this event saying that Michael is alive, she is contact with him, that Michael will never return but there was the possibility that this was the 25th in Roma.everything has been said during a conference, given only a few people, in Milan for sponsoring the event contribution.
Some fans have done, including many believers have done to notify family of the incident. And always the same fans started the initiative to not participate in that event, because a rip-off
I hope that u understand me... <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->
