    JJM - John Jackson Miller
John Jackson Miller is an American comic book writer and commentator, known for his work on the Star Wars franchise as well as his research into comic book circulation history, as presented in the Standard Catalog of Comic Books series.
His first professional comics work appeared in 2003 in Crimson Dynamo for Marvel Comics, which led to a run on Iron Man. In 2006, he helped relaunch the Dark Horse Star Wars line with the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ongoing comic series.

His first professional comics work appeared in 2003 in Crimson Dynamo for Marvel Comics, which led to a run on Iron Man. In 2006, he helped relaunch the Dark Horse Star Wars line with the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ongoing comic series.

In February 2007, he was hired as a writer for the video game Sword of the New World. In December 2007, Wizards of the Coast announced he would co-write a Knights of the Old Republic guidebook for its Star Wars Roleplaying Game, to be released in August 2008. In early 2008, he launched a fantasy webcomic with artist Chuck Fiala called Sword & Sarcasm.

In 2008, he wrote the Dark Horse comic-book adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In 2009, he was announced as the scripter for Mass Effect: Redemption, the first comic-book series based on the video game Mass Effect, launching in January 2010.

In 2010, Dark Horse Comics announced he would be writing Star Wars: Knight Errant, a new Star Wars comic series. An original novel by the same name is slated for 2011 release by Del Rey.

    Crimson Dynamo
The Crimson Dynamois the name of several fictional characters in the Marvel Comics Universe, most of whom have been supervillains. The various Crimson Dynamos have been powered armor-wearing Russian or Soviet agents who have clashed with the superhero Iron Man over the course of his heroic career. The original Crimson Dynamo first appeared in Tales of Suspense #46.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_Dynamo

    Iron Man
Iron Man is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character debuted in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963), and was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby.

Born Anthony Edward Stark, and usually called Tony, he is an industrialist playboy and ingenious engineer who suffers a severe heart injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. He instead creates a powered suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. He later uses the suit to protect the world as Iron Man. Through his multinational corporation, Stark Industries, Tony created military weapons and his own metal suit is laden with technological devices that enable him to fight crime. Initially, Iron Man was a vehicle for Stan Lee to explore Cold War themes, particularly the role of American technology and business in the fight against communism. Subsequent re-imaginings of Iron Man have gradually removed the Cold War themes, replacing them with more contemporary concerns such as corporate crime and terrorism.

Throughout most of the character's publication history, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero team the Avengers and has been featured in several incarnations of his own various comic book series. Iron Man has been adapted for several animated TV shows and films. The character is portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr. in the live action film Iron Man (2008), which was a box office success. Downey reprised the role in the sequel, Iron Man 2 (2010), and also played the character in a cameo in The Incredible Hulk (2008). Downey will also play the role in the upcoming film The Avengers (2012) and the planned Iron Man 3.

    Star Wars
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise conceived by George Lucas. The first film in the franchise was originally released on May 25, 1977, by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, spawning two sequels, released at three-year intervals. Sixteen years after the release of the trilogy's final film, the first in a new prequel trilogy of films was released, again released at three-year intervals, with the final film released on May 19, 2005.

The events depicted in Star Wars media take place in a fictional galaxy. Many species of alien creatures are depicted. Robotic droids are also commonplace and are generally built to serve their owners. Space travel is common, and many planets in the galaxy are members of a Galactic Republic, later reorganized as the Galactic Empire.

One of the prominent elements of Star Wars is the "Force", which is an omnipresent form of energy which can be harnessed by those with that ability. It is described in the first produced film as "an energy field created by all living things that surrounds us, penetrates us binds the galaxy together."The Force allows users to perform a variety of supernatural feats (such as telekinesis, clairvoyance, precognition, and mind control) and also can amplify certain physical traits, such as speed and reflexes; these abilities can vary from user to user and can be improved through training. While the Force can be used for good, it has a dark side that, when pursued, imbues users with hatred, aggression, and malevolence. The six films feature the Jedi, who use the Force for good, and the Sith, who use the dark side for evil in an attempt to take over the galaxy. In the Expanded Universe many dark side users are Dark Jedi rather than Sith, mainly because of the Rule of Two

The prequel trilogy follows the upbringing of Anakin Skywalker, who is discovered by the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn. He is believed to be the "Chosen One" foretold by prophecy to bring balance to the Force.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Movie)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a 2008 adventure film. It is the fourth film in the Indiana Jones franchise, created by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. Released nineteen years after the previous film, the film acknowledges its star Harrison Ford's age by setting itself in 1957. It pays tribute to the science fiction B-movies of the era, pitting Indiana Jones against Soviet agents—led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett)—for a psychic alien crystal skull. Indiana is aided by his former lover Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) and their son Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf). Ray Winstone, John Hurt, and Jim Broadbent are also part of the supporting cast.

In 1957, World War II hero Indiana Jones and his long-time partner George "Mac" McHale are kidnapped by a group of Soviet agents led by the psychic Colonel Dr. Irina Spalko. The Soviets infiltrate a government warehouse in Nevada and force Indiana to find a crate containing the remains of an extraterrestrial being that crashed ten years prior in Roswell, New Mexico. After finding the crate, Mac double-crosses Indiana, having been bought off by the Soviets. Indiana manages to escape into the desert, where he stumbles upon a nuclear test town and survives a nuclear explosion by hiding in a lead-lined refrigerator. He is later found and debriefed by the FBI because of Mac's Soviet ties. Shortly after returning to Marshall College, Indiana is offered an indefinite leave of absence to avoid being fired because of the incident.

At a train station, Indiana is stopped by greaser Mutt Williams, who tells him that his old colleague Harold Oxley was kidnapped after discovering a crystal skull in Peru. Indiana proceeds to tell Mutt the legend of a skull found in the mystical city of Akator, in which whoever returns the skull to the city would be given control over its supernatural powers. Mutt gives Indiana a letter from his mother, who was also kidnapped, containing a riddle written by Oxley in an ancient Native American language, which leads them to the Nazca Lines in Peru. There they discover that Oxley was incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital, having suffered a mental breakdown from the powers of the skull, until he was kidnapped by the Soviets. In Oxley's cell, they find clues that lead them to the grave of Francisco de Orellana, a Conquistador who went missing in the 16th century while searching for Akator. They discover the skull at the grave, with Indiana reasoning that Oxley had hidden it there after finding it.

Shortly afterward, Indiana and Mutt are captured by the Soviets and taken to their camp in Brazil, where they find Oxley and Mutt's mother, who turns out to be Indiana's old love, Marion Ravenwood, and reveals that Mutt is Indiana's son. Spalko believes that the crystal skull belongs to an interdimensional being form and holds great psychic power, and reveals that the specimen stolen from the warehouse also has a crystal skull. She also believes that returning the skull to Akator will grant the Soviets the advantage of psychic warfare. Indiana, Marion, Mutt and Oxley manage to escape from the Soviets into the Amazon, where Mac claims that he is actually a CIA double agent working against the Soviets and joins the group.

The five head for the temple of Akator, but not before being attacked by the Soviets. They manage to escape when a colony of giant ants appears and tries to eat them. They reach the temple, surviving an attack by the Ugha warriors defending it. As they enter the temple, Mac, who is actually still loyal to the Soviets, secretly leaves a trail of homing devices for the Soviets to follow. Inside the temple, they find valuable artifacts from ancient civilizations all over the world, and Indiana deduces that the aliens were of a kindred spirit: they, too, were "archaeologists" studying different Earth cultures. The five enter a chamber containing thirteen interdimensional being crystal skeletons, one missing a skull, seated on thrones in a circle. After the Soviets arrive, Spalko places the skull onto the headless skeleton. The interdimensional beings begin communicating to the group through Oxley in an ancient Mayan dialect, promising to reward them a "big gift." Spalko approaches and demands to "know everything." The interdimensional beings grant her request and transfer their collective knowledge into her mind, activating a portal to another dimension. Indiana, Marion, Mutt and the now-sane Oxley escape the temple, while Mac and the other Soviets are sucked into the portal; the skeletons, meanwhile, knowing that Spalko will use their knowledge for villainous purposes, form a single interdimensional being which overwhelms Spalko with its knowledge, causing her brain to ignite and her body to disintegrate, her scattered essence absorbed into the portal. The temple crumbles, and a flying saucer rises from the debris and disappears to the "space between spaces." After they return home, Indiana is reinstated and made an associate dean at Marshall College, and he and Marion are married.

Adam’s curse A future Without Men by Kevin Jon Williams

Genghis Khan attacks a village, slaughters its men, and rapes its women. He and his four acknowledged sons do the same throughout Asia as they build their empire. According to Bryan Sykes’s book Adam’s curse: a future without men, this is “guy” behavior. Genetics corroborates part of this story: 8% of men in that region, roughly 16 million, now carry the same Y chromosome, and it’s presumably Genghis Khan’s.

The use of genetics to examine fragments of human history is the subject of about one-third of the book. Mitochondrial and Y-chromosomal markers are used to trace maternal and paternal lineages, respectively. Surprisingly, some real jaw-droppers are missing from this text: the Jeffersonian Y chromosome carried by one descendant of Sally Hemings (s1); the shared Y chromosome within the Jewish priesthood (s2, s3) — striking because it corroborates an early portion of the biblical narrative (s4) yet oddly absent given this book’s biblical title (by way of Yeats); the discovery of this same Y chromosome in a Bantu-speaking black African population (s5, s6); and the disputed finding of European Y-chromosomal markers in Indian Brahmins (s7-s9). These are reminiscent of Schliemann’s discovery of Troy — startling support for what had been relegated to myth or conjecture. They should have been in this book.

Another third of the book focuses on the history of the science of genetics. It’s nicely written, particularly regarding work on the likely origins and evolutionary advantages of sexual reproduction. I’d have preferred more illustrations and more attention to the false ideas that Darwin, Mendel, and others had to overcome. A related problem is the absence of Avery, MacCleod, and McCarty’s identification of DNA as the chemical of heredity, against all expectation that it would be protein or carbohydrate (s10). Why else would Watson, Crick, Franklin, and others care about DNA structure? But these are quibbles; the section is good.

Unfortunately, the third part of the book sinks it. It’s a hodgepodge of self-referential stories, amateurish poetic allegory, and overly gene-centric speculations that a lay reader might mistake for established fact. The chapter describing Sykes’s wonderment while isolating his own DNA is excruciating, and he correctly observes in a long discussion of his genealogy that other people’s family histories are “tedious.” Sykes hears chromosomes speaking to him; genes “want,” “observe,” and “plan” and are “happy,” “hostile,” or “pretty relaxed.”

Sykes postulates a harsh Darwinian struggle between feminine mitochondria and masculine Y chromosomes. Thus, mitochondria disable sperm, kill male fetuses, and make men gay, all to block masculine reproduction. There are plenty of scientific-sounding explanations for male homosexuality, and I have no objection to the idea that mitochondria might encode some predisposition. But wouldn’t it be better to find the gene before making the announcement?

Sykes argues that the “raging beast” of the Y chromosome is specifically responsible for poverty, global warming, industrial pollution, nuclear warheads, the Cuban missile crisis, and the conflict in the Middle East (even though both sides share Y chromosomes [ref. s11], which in a gene-centric model should argue for cooperation). Freud asked what women want; Sykes says it’s “wasteful displays of Ferrari and Rolex.” But a few chapters earlier, he claims that female preference for male intelligence drove our expanding brainpower. Later he writes that leaving the world entirely to women would diminish “greed and ambition.” So no woman would be guilty of insider trading (s12)? Or become a suicide bomber (s13)? No man would start a nonviolent protest movement (s14, s15)? What about humanity’s apparent preference for small families, once infant mortality is minimized and methods of contraception are widely available (s16, s17)?

And then there’s the alleged fragility of our Y chromosome. In 5,000 generations (125,000 years), men will lose 99% of their fertility, he says. Scientists used to predict that their work would have practical consequences within 5-10 years, but that turned out to be testable — and only rarely correct (s18, s19). How do we test Sykes’s assertion? Five thousand generations in a mouse is only about 1,000 years, but the mouse Y chromosome does not appear to be in accelerated danger. The same is the case with fruit flies, which generate even faster. His proposed solutions to our alleged problem include human germline engineering, but there is no serious discussion of the immense technical — and ethical — difficulties. We have not been able to engineer our germline just to cure sickle cell disease, even though its molecular basis has been known for more than half a century (s20). And constructing a virulent virus to destroy Y chromosomes “would not really be difficult to achieve.” No wonder lots of layfolk don’t trust us.

If your neurosis is about threats to masculinity, try Y: the last man, a comic book series about, literally, the last living man, who’s being hunted by a gang of lesbian Amazons (s21). In the real world, I wouldn’t worry. There’s a good book in here somewhere, but despite some fine sections, Adam’s curse: a future without men desperately needs an editor’s scalpel — plus a dose of common sense.

    JF - Jade Falcon
    Clan Jade Falcon
Clan Jade Falcon is a major Clan within the fictional BattleTech universe. They are often cast as antagonists in BattleTech fictional works due to their zeal for the reconquest of the Inner Sphere. Clan Jade Falcon is the primary political and military rival of the more moderate Clan Wolf. Despite a negotiated truce between the Clans and the Inner Sphere, the Jade Falcon had often sought to break the truce by attacking Inner Sphere territories before the negotiated time of expiration, an action that was opposed and stopped by the Wolves. Among the notable Jade Falcon leaders are Elias Crichell and Marthe Pryde.

    BattleTech (Comic series)
In the early days of the BattleTech franchise, Blackthorne Publishing, Inc. published a number of comics set in that universe: Six regular BattleTech comics plus one BattleTech Annual and one BattleTech in 3-D issue. Two more comics were published under the BattleForce moniker with the tagline "Small unit action in the 31st century"; this was intended to be a 3-part miniseries but only the first two parts were printed.

None of the stories includes a date, but circumstantial evidence suggests that they all take place around the year 3025 and prior to the Fourth Succession War. In two instances, a Hatchetman is seen among Lyran Commonwealth and Federated Suns forces, respectively.

    BattleTech
BattleTech is a wargaming and science fiction franchise launched by FASA Corporation in 1984, acquired by WizKids in 2000, and owned since 2003 by Topps. The series began with FASA's debut of the board game BattleTech (originally named BattleDroids) by Jordan Weisman and L. Ross Babcock III and has since grown to include numerous expansions to the original game, several computer and video games, a collectible card game, a series of more than 100 novels, an animated television series and more.

Chicago-based FASA Corporation's original, 1984 BattleTech game focuses on enormous robotic, semi-humanoid battle machines called BattleDroids. Their name was changed to BattleMechs in the second edition because George Lucas and Lucasfilm claimed the rights to the term "droid.

No, it's not just you! I'm thinking that seeing as Jermaine started this whole thing with his announcement of MJ's 'death', maybe he's going to be the one to break the news to the world (maybe on this LK interview) that this past year has all been the biggest production of MJ's life! Maybe this is MJ 'snapping his fingers' to get everyone's attention, BEFORE the Bam! And safer for him if big bro takes the initial step. Or maybe it's just another 'event' that won't happen!

Sorry ... my mind's working overtime this morning!
