On the anniversary
of Michael Jackson's death, TMZ looks at his children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- and how their lives have changed.

A Prince is Born

Jackson’s longtime friend (and later his wife) Deborah Jeanne Rowe, a dermatology nurse, reportedly gave birth to Michael Joseph Jackson Jr (known as Prince Michael) on February 13, 1997.
Paris Is A Jackson

Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, Prince’s little sister, was born in April 3, 1998.

Even though Jackson and Rowe divorced in 1999, Jackson got full custody of the children. The divorce was relatively amicable, but a subsequent custody suit was not settled until 2006.
And Blanket Makes Three

In 2002, Jackson’s third child, Prince Michael Jackson II (nicknamed “Blanket”) was born. The mother’s identity is unknown, but Jackson has said the child was the result of artificial insemination from a surrogate mother and his own sperm.
Dangling Blanket

In November 2002, Jackson brought his newborn son Blanket onto the balcony of his room at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin as fans stood below, holding him in his right arm, with a cloth loosely draped over the baby’s face. Jackson dangled Blanket over a railing, four stories above ground level, causing widespread criticism in the media.

Jackson later apologized for the incident, calling it “a terrible mistake.”
Jackson Never Officially Adopted

Michael Jackson never adopted his three children, even though he’s not the biological father.

We broke the story that neither Jackson nor Debbie Rowe are the biological parents of Michael Jr. and Paris. And Michael was not the biological parent of Prince Michael II either.

Jackson never filed legal papers to adopt any of his children.
Katherine Gets Custody

Michael Jackson’s will said the singer wanted his mom, Katherine, to get custody of his three children and wanted assets to be placed in trust.

The will lists Jackson’s lawyer, John Branca, and John McClain, a music exec, as executors.

The will has not been filed with the court.

As for custody — ultimately the decision on who gets custody was in the hands of the judge who awarded custody to Katherine.
Kids Accept MJ's Grammy with Touching Speeches

Paris and Prince Jackson, Michael Jackson’s two oldest kids, delivered a touching speech when they accepted a lifetime achievement award at the Grammy Awards in 2010, seven months after Michael’s death.
Private Screening of 'This Is It'

Michael Jackson’s kids saw “This Is It” on October 27, 2009 — in their own private screening.

The kids were invited by Sony to see a screening of the movie on the Sony lot in Los Angeles. Despite being sick with the flu all week, the kids still attended the screening.
Fun With A Stun Gun

Jermaine Jackson’s 13-year-old son Jaafar ordered a stun gun online which was confiscated by security when it was delivered and locked up by Katherine Jackson. But children at the Jackson home were found playing with the gun — and Blanket was the intended target.

Security guards on the property were perplexed because they couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from … nor could they identify the sound.

One of the security guards went upstairs and “stopped Jermaine’s kids from stunning Blanket.” The guard confiscated the gun.
The Force Is Strong With Blanket Jackson

MJ’s kids posted several self-made videos on YouTube and quickly became sensations.

One of the videos features 8-year-old Blanket Jackson wielding an invisible lightsaber and quoting “Star Wars.” Another clip shows his sister Paris Jackson busting out a hardcore rap.

Michael’s kids really got into making these home movies … and the stun gun incident involving Jaafar was part of a movie plot.
MJ's Kids Have No Friends

Katherine Jackson says Michael’s kids are isolated and miss their father desperately.

Katherine told the Daily Mirror, “They don’t have any friends. They don’t go to school, they have private lessons at home — but that will change in September, when they are due to enroll at private college.”

According to the interview, the kids spend hours listening to their dad’s music.

She says Paris has turned her bedroom into a shrine to her “Daddy” and that Prince and Blanket talk often about trying to make him proud.
