Voices For A Better World (Live at the O2 London, 6th July)
Live @ The O2 Arena, London, England, 6th July 2010
"Voices for a Better World stage their second event at The O2 arena. This spectacular show brings together a staggering 5000 school children and a live orchestra to perform a live James Bond spectacular using songs from the films and other sources as diverse as Michael Jackson, Queen and Take That.
Voices for a Better World has 4,800 young voices and 500 young dancers – performing together with celebrity guests in a theatrical and exciting way.
The purpose of this magnificent event is to raise substantial funds and awareness for the children’s charity Arts by Children - an international organisation that works at a grass-root level to support the needs of children in third world countries.
The performance provides children and young adults with a great opportunity to channel their creative energy and providing opportunities for children is more important now than it has ever been.
Voices for a Better World is the brainchild of Kevin Dowsett, Artistic Director of Theatretrain. He is known for teaching drama and theatrics to some of today's most popular figures, including Catherine Tate, Louise Redknapp and Russell Brand. Kevin said:
"This year’s performance has another special aim. In September of this year we are bringing 200 young people around the world to come together for 10 days in London, debate children’s rights and perform at the Royal Albert Hall. Part of the proceeds of this concert will help us to do that.
It always seems that young people are given a bad press. Here is an opportunity to see what masses of performers can do together. Voices for a Better World is a performing showcase, but also a platform for children to express themselves. Thousands of young children singing in one voice - what better and powerful way is there to communicate the need for change?"
This special event, which gives children an unsurpassable opportunity to perform at one of the world's most acclaimed music venues, will be conducted and arranged by the legendary Robert Hyman, and promises to bring a large live orchestra and lead one of the best ever live Bond shows.
This magical event provides a perfect evening out for families, Bond fans, theatre-goers and other children who like excitement, humour and spectacle.
Well known celebrities from the world of acting and music have begun to dedicate their support and singer-songwriter, Natasha Bedingfield, said:
"Music is a universal language. It is extremely important for kids to get involved in music, to realise that everyone has a voice; something to say that makes a difference to everyone around. This event gives them a chance to express themselves in a positive way by helping other people in the process.""
