    Sulema Wilborn, a 51-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Wednesday, Aug. 4, near Slauson Avenue and Main Street in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

    Sulema and her husband, Jerriel Wilborn, a 49-year-old black man, were driving on Slauson Avenue, about a quarter of a mile from the 110 Freeway, when they were both shot, said Det. Thomas Brown of the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton division.

    Sulema Wilborn, wounded by a gunshot, accelerated and the car crashed into a pole on the freeway offramp, Brown said.

    Authorities were called and the couple was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:43 a.m., according to coroner's records.

    Brown said there were no witnesses to the shooting. The incident may be gang-related.

    Anyone with information about the death of Jerriel and Sulema Wilborn is asked to contact LAPD Newton Det. Luis Calzadillas at (323) 846-6556. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

    I can't find the right words, I'm very saddened. The whole issue is just so unfair...Tom Mesereau deals with gangs and poor black people and now something like THIS happens. I know Tom is very strong, I hope he won't be discouraged by that incident...

    I can't help but wonder why so many people in such a small space of time have been killed after the murder ( death ) of the late Michael Jackson. I truly hope that the LAPD are really working on this and the death of Peter Lopez. The 911 call sounded so off , something is truly not right with people passing away who have been connected to Michael jackson.

    The world seems so miserable at times. News like this pains me to the core. It's difficult at times to keep faith in man-kind, when we kill each other. Violence begets violence, hearts harden and love is lost. It magnifies the importance of Michael's message to me. His message to love one another is no joke. I once wrote a speech in which I said:
    ".....In the ever-changing footprint of society, there is one constant pain: violence. It is the Achilles Heel of modern times......"

    I agree. I also find it odd that 2 of the Jackson's ex-wives have died as well. One was murdered (Tito's ex DeeDee) and one died of a brain aneurysm in a movie theater bathroom (Jackie's ex Enid)

    I'm sure the ex-wives deaths have nothing to do with what's happening now, but it just surprised me when I was out "researching" on the web to find out about this.

    Another factoid which is mere coincidence, but eery nonetheless: a young beautiful and talented young woman, Mitrice Richardson, 25 years old, had been missing for over a year and her skeletal remains were found last week somewhere outside of Malibu on a secluded mountain trail. She'd been acting strangely that day and went to an upscale restaurant by herself and she started saying to people that she was an alien sent to avenge Michael Jackson's death. This was last Sept. Because she could not pay her $89.00 bill she was arrested and taken to jail. Her mother called to see about her but the police let Mitrice go without anyone knowing. She was never to be seen alive again.
