Jury selection will begin Thursday in Los Angeles.<br />Dr. Conrad Murray will take the stand in a desperate bid to beat involuntary manslaughter charges, Star magazine is exclusively reporting.<br />The embattled doctor is charged in connection with the 2009 death of his former patient, King of Pop, Michael Jackson.<br />Murray had originally planned to point the finger at Jackson’s dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, claiming he got the singer hooked on Demerol and other powerful narcotics.<br />But, just days before the start of the September 8 trial, an LA judge ruled that Klein could not be called to testify — thereby blowing a hole in Murray’s defense and forcing him to take the stand himself.<br />“Dr. Murray is, naturally, devastated,” his lawyer, Edward Chernoff, told Star in an exclusive interview about not being able to call Dr. Klein as a witness.<br />“He sees forces aligned against him and does not know why he’s not allowed to put on a defense.”<br />For the full story pick up the new issue of Star magazine -- on newsstands now.<br />http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2011/09/conrad-murray-take-stand-involuntary-manslaughter-trial-death-michael-jackson<br /><br /><br />What's with the September 8th date?     This might be a reflection back on the 2005 trial because Michael planned to take the stand in his own defense. This move proved to be unnecessary as the Prosecution's case fell apart with the testimony of the mother and it didn't happen.<br /><br /><br />Or this might be foreshadowing something that I think might happen during trial, but since we are watched I won't say  ;)

    I think they mean that Sep 8th is the start of the trial because of the jury selection.

    If I remember correctly, it is going to be televised.  Not sure which channel it is going to be on.  There was rumors that it is going to be on HLN, the same station that aired the Casey Anthony trial and the same channel that Nancy Grace is on.  I find it ironic that Nancy Grace is going to be on Dancing with the stars this season, after all the talks of her being an issue with the trial and the jurors being forced to stay in a hotel.  Maybe, they just decided to shush her up.
