UPDATED: L.A. D.A. calls Jackson doc manslaughter indictment story 'bogus'; Murray rep responds to report
by Whitney Pastorek

Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the L.A. district attorney’s office, called reports that Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s physician, will be indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter “bogus” when contacted by EW.com this afternoon. The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement source, speaking anonymously, said the case is edging near an indictment and that Murray would be “prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians.”

The L.A. D.A., Sandi Gibbons was quoted in the AP story as saying, “no final decision has been made.” When contaced by EW on Friday afternoon, Robison stood by that statement. “Nothing has changed,” the D.A. spokeswoman told EW.com. “It’s a bogus report. We don’t have the case.”

A spokeswoman for Dr. Murray sent EW.com the following statement: “We have refused to comment on stories involving unnamed sources and will continue to do so. However, we can confirm that we have not received notice of an impaneled grand jury and Dr. Murray has not been invited to testify. J. Michael Flanagan was added to Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense team this past week. His offices are in Glendale, California.” Flanagan is the attorney who represented Britney Spears in a hit-and-run case. He told the AP he once also successfully defended a nurse who was acquitted in an LA trial after being accused of administering propofol to a patient who died.

Murray has been under investigation for some time in connection with the death of Jackson, which has officially been ruled a homicide caused by acute propofol intoxication. According to previously released court documents, the Houston-based physician allegedly purchased the drug in Nevada and shipped it to California, where he allegedly administered it to the late pop singer on the afternoon of his death.

  • I prefer to read these "true" reports than "sources" talking BS to tabloids.
  • The LAPD are not likely to give credence to reports that don't come officially from them, even if the reports are true. It's like someone stepping on their toes and they don't like it. It's their investigation and it's clear thus far they intend to let everyone know who's in charge. They will release the information they have as and when they are ready to make a move with charges. It's all to do with authority and nothing to do with smoke and mirrors IMO. If Murray gets to court and various people involved with MJ the day he died (paramedics etc) are called to testify, will that still be part of the hoax too? Yes, there are some unusual observations around MJ's death, but to not be completely eclipsed from reality you really have to look at the other side of the coin too.
  • I dont think that the report TMZ got from this "un-named" source is reliable.
  • Even the AP have unreliable sources

sound like somebody is trying to shake the DA cage humm this is going to interesting let see what comes of this because in most homicide cases time is very important most police don't like to wait to long.

True but my concern is that someone's ego will kick in and they will stubbornly sit on this for a while longer. People especially "important people" don't like for others to tell them how to do their job. Someone may fold his arms and decide to complete this when he is good and ready. We've waited nearly 7 months so it may be decided to make the public wait longer.

I prefer to read these "true" reports than "sources" talking BS to tabloids.

See, it doesn't matter because the MSM takes stories from TMZ and reports them. Anymore, there is no difference between the tabloids and the MSM. They all have the same "unnamed sources" and the same BS information.

Read any MSM article re: Michael Jackson since 6-25 and I bet you a donut the only source you find utilized is "unnamed".

Just because it says "AP" in front of it doesn't mean it's reliable information. Any journalist is only as good as their source.

So it means that there's still no definitive information.
  • I have noticed that more and more, we DEFINITELY CANNOT COUNT ON ANY OF THESE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS.
There is soooo much back n forth, that it's a shake up of who do you believe period?
    MJ was absolutely right.
AND NOW WE ARE SEEING WITH OUR OWN EYES.
