Med Board Goes After Murray with a Vengeance

Posted Feb 8th 2010 6:18PM by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray is a "danger to the public" -- according to the medical board that licensed him to practice medicine in California.

The Medical Board of California was shut down today by the judge in Murray's involuntary manslaughter case. The Board wanted the judge to immediately stop Dr. Murray in his tracks from practicing medicine as a condition to bail.

According to documents filed with the court, the Board believes Murray showed, "utter disregard for the care and well-being of the persons entrusted to his care" -- namely, Michael Jackson.

The Board wants the judge to step in stat because it takes the Medical Board a long time to yank a doctor's license.

In the end, the judge would only go as far as ordering Dr. Murray not to administer anesthetics, including Propofol.

It never completely disappears, but depending on what state you're in domestic violence charges keep you from persuing certain careers for a limited time.

According to the Medical Board of California, Dr. Conrad R. Murray is licensed in this state to practice medicine. There are not public actions, ie: felonies, malpractice suits, or hospital violations against him. Although, I find it strange that his medical practice address is none other than a post office box. I was told by our medical staffing office at the hospital I work in that there must be a physical address before one can register in the CA. for a medical license. However, it does show that he is licensed and no action has been taken by the board against him. Or it could be that it is not for public record.

I thought that Murray wan't even licensed to practice medicine in Cali. That's what I thought. I thought he was licensed in Texas or some other state. So why would the medical board in Cali be trying to revoke a license that he never had in the first place? If this is correct I'm not certain but I believe someone mentioned this before.
  • Murray does indeed have a license to practice in California. He'd be in much bigger trouble if he didn't.
