After seeing the last video of Maura [ <!-- m -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd9W49SpQDs&feature=sub<!-- m --> ] I started to do some research about what is written on this emblem . What I've foung is very .. strange <!-- s:shock: -->:shock:<!-- s:shock: --> :

"DIEU ET MON DROIT" is the motto of the British Monarch :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieu_et_mon_droit

and " HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE " is the motto of "The Most Noble Order of the Garter": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Garter
here's the list of this order's members : http://www.heraldica.org/topics/orders/garterlist.htm

  • Actually, it means "God and my right"
  • I also found a similar logo to Pall Mall cigarettes <!-- s:D -->:D<!-- s:D --> <!-- s:D -->:D<!-- s:D --> <!-- s:D -->:D<!-- s:D -->

    I says: "Per aspera ad astra.In hoc signo vinces."
    Can you find a translation?
    And do you think there is any connection?

    @SmellyJelly

    This is the correct form:
    In hoc signo vinces per aspera ad astra = In this sign, you will conquer through difficulties, to the stars

    Kisses
