Dr. Conrad Murray's Attorneys Will Look To Delay Preliminary Hearing
Posted on Apr 05, 2010 @ 07:17AM
Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday at 1:30 pm PST. The main focus of the hearing will to be to set a date for a preliminary hearing for the embattled doctor RadarOnline.com has learned.
However, sources close to the situation tell us that Dr. Murray's lead attorney, Ed Chernoff will likely ask for a continuance in setting the date for the preliminary hearing. If the judge agrees, the insider close to Dr. Murray tells us, "The preliminary hearing probably won't take place until the fall."
During a preliminary hearing, a judge decides if there is enough evidence to order the defendant to stand trial, so the hearing will be make-or-break for Dr. Murray.
Officials from the California Attorney General's office will also likely be at the hearing because they filed paperwork to have Dr. Murray's license revoked to practice in California until the outcome of the criminal proceedings. Dr. Murray's attorney's fired back in legal docs stating that Dr. Murray must continue to practice medicine so that he can earn a living and pay for his defense.
Prosecutors maintain Murray gave Jackson a lethal dose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol, which led to his shocking death on June 25, 2009.
In February of 2010, Murray pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the King of Pop’s death.
RadarOnline will be in the courtroom for Monday’s hearing and will bring you up-to-the-minute developments as they happen.
