The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together
And do not apologise-is nice to talk about your sadness and share and gain comfort from people. We are all friends here and share good and bad times.xx.
I love horses although I don't ride.
They are truly majestic animals.
I'm sooo sorry for your loss.
In a way I know how you feel. I had a beautiful little, white pony. I loved her more than anything but money issues got in the way and we had to sell her. I haven't seen her for 2 years and it's extremely unlikely I will ever see her again <!-- s:( -->:(<!-- s:( --> Actually, it's almost certain I'll never see her again.
I know it's a bit different and I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling. It must be ten times worse than how I felt and still feel.
I wasn't into shows, but I just loved her, knowing she was there for me whenever I needed her.
It's strange, ponies are such beautiful, gentle creatures and they're so loving. My pony was my best friend, I could just sit in her stable with her for ages and cuddle her and groom her. I'd run up and down the fields with her and she'd literally chase me! She was a bit of a tomboy, so I guess she took after me <!-- s:P -->:P<!-- s:P --> <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->
I remember the first time I fell off her. It was the first time I had cantered on my own, we were on slippery ground and she slipped a bit and I went flying. She stopped in her tracks, trotted over to me and nuzzled me. I'll never forget that. <!-- s --><!-- s -->
Once again, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's awful to lose a pet, especially one you can have such a connection with.
Don't apologise. Just let it all out. Share your horsey stories, have a good cry, look back on some pictures. It's difficult and painful to keep your emotions locked up.
I truly hope Sunny did not suffer and I'm sure he/she's in horsey heaven <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->
God bless you xx
I am so sorry your about your Horse (((Hugs)))
