    Me neither!!

Ive done some googling and it seems MJ did write the lyrics but maybe didnt write the melody... im not sure as there seem to be different things on the internet about it.

I still LOVE Michaels version of this, but it piddles me off that we seem to have been sold down the river with this "Michael" album as nothing is what it seems.

Eric Clapton is such a fantastic singer and he is the fourth greatest guitarist of all time according to some list.

Looks like it was also recorded by other people besides Eric Clapton.

Solid State Survivor, released in 1979, was YMO's pinnacle recording in Japan, winning the 1980 Best Album Award in the Japan Record Awards. It featured English lyrics by Chris Mosdell, whose sci-fi themes often depicted a human condition alienated by dystopic futures, much like the emerging cyberpunk movement in fiction at that time. The album's major single and YMO's biggest international hit, "Behind the Mask", with lyrics penned by Chris Mosdell, was later revised by Michael Jackson, who added new lyrics.[2] Jackson's version has been released on his first posthumous album, "Michael". Michael Jackson's version was covered by Ryuichi Sakamoto himself on his 1986 solo release "Media Bahn Live" (it was also covered by Greg Phillinganes and Eric Clapton).

During a period of increasing international collaborations, Mosdell traveled to Los Angeles to work with pop singer Boy George. They worked together on two single cuts (“Fireboy Meets His Match” and “All Prayers are Answered”) for a Japanese shoju television commercial that, although released for a few weeks, was suddenly withdrawn after the singer’s brush with heroin. In the same city, pop singer Michael Jackson recorded a cover of YMO's “Behind the Mask” for inclusion on his 1981 Thriller album[citation needed], but the song was eventually not included on the album. The Mosdell-Sakamoto-Jackson version was later picked up by Jackson's keyboardist Greg Phillinganes for his 1984 album Pulse, and by Eric Clapton, for his August album, released in 1986.

Its not the only song that isnt an original....this is it was written by Paul Anka, and then there's A place without no name, a copy of the original....

I STILL THINK THE WHOLE ALBUM IS A HOAX....and whats great about it, is that Sony are probably gonna lose alot of money..when the troot will prevail...

"Behind the Mask" was a track from Yellow Magic Orchestra's 1979 album Solid State Survivor, with English lyrics by Chris Mosdell sung by Sakamoto using a vocoder. It was the first studio recording of this song, although YMO had played it live the previous year. In 1980, the song was released as a single in UK with B-side "Yellow Magic (Tong Poo)".[1]

The keyboardist of Yellow Magic Orchestra, and the writer of the song Ryuichi Sakamoto, re-recorded the song in 1987 with Michael Jackson's additional lyrics and lead vocals by Bernard Fowler. A similar arrangement was performed (with Fowler) in Sakamoto's "Media Bahn Live" tour the previous year. A CD single with 3 tracks [2] and a CD maxi with 6 tracks entitled "Behind the Mask +3" were released.[3][4]

Do you think Michael intentionally palmed the fake songs off to revenge Sony? I am not certain about those Cascio tracks, sometimes I feel it's Michael, sometimes I don't, but even if those tracks are 100% fake how about the other ones, that are 100% authentic?

    About the song, I didn't like the version of Eric Clapton at all. <!-- sfresse/ -->fresse/<!-- sfresse/ --> Am I a BIG fan of Michael after that? lol <!-- smj_bad/ -->mj_bad/<!-- smj_bad/ --> <!-- smj_dance/ -->mj_dance/<!-- smj_dance/ --> <!-- smoonwalk_/ -->moonwalk_/<!-- smoonwalk_/ --> <!-- smichael-jackson/ -->michael-jackson/<!-- smichael-jackson/ --> Yes I am! <!-- selvis_/ -->elvis_/<!-- selvis_/ --> <!-- sparty/ -->party/<!-- sparty/ -->

I just think the album "MICHAEL", was put together to create contraversey, and that most of the tracks are either old, unfinished work, or fake...

This was done on purpose, and could be setting up "Sony" for a failure in their huge investment.

MJ is probably saving the best for last..he is probably recording all his new material while he is away. And the fans will be blown away with his new and real work...

I did not know that he retired. <!-- s:( -->:(<!-- s:( --> Did he say why he'd never work again? He was one of the best in the business. I'm sorry to hear that.

I think that was is proven with the Michael album is:
    - that albums can be made with cheaper ways, like being recordered in a home basement studio <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->
    - removing dealers and middle men, so the profit goes mostly to the artist <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->
    - Michael still is number one regardless of polished songs or not

To me, Michael is a test album, and has been great once more!
