New ticket details emerge about Michael Jackson tribute concert at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium
BY PETER LAW ⋅ JULY 29, 2011

PB250711JACKSON-1301.jpg
Members of the Jackson family announcing the Forever Michael Tribute Concert to take place at Cardiff's Millennuim Stadium.

Organisers of the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Cardiff have insisted fans will all have an equal chance of getting a ticket, following complaints by yourCardiff readers.

Global Live Events’ website this morning released further details of the controversial ticketing system which this week sparked anger from Jackson fans across the world.

Ticket buyers for the October 8 show at the Welsh capital’s Millennium Stadium were originally told they would also have to make a donation to charity.

When the Michael Forever Tribute Concert was announced by some members of the Jackson family on Monday, the official concert website stated: “The more you pledge to charity, the more chance you have of getting a ticket.”

But now a revamped version of the ticketing system has appeared on http://home.michaelforevertribute.com/home.html

It says: “We wanted to avoid the usual frantic rush and confusion when tickets for big events go on sale.

“We also wanted to stop ticket touts making huge sums of money off the fans. Our system is simple and calm and ensures that those applying to buy tickets have an equal chance of having their tickets reserved for them

“When the countdown reaches ZERO you will be able to register your interest on the website. You will enter your contact details, choose your ticket price level and enter a charity pledge.

“The registration period will last four days to give everyone an opportunity to register.

“The charity pledge can be as low as £1, and for the lower price ranges tickets will be allocated by simple ballot at the end of the registration period.

“We want everybody to be able to afford to come – even the lowest bidders have an equal chance of purchasing a ticket.”

But it still says the best seats will go to the highest bidders, adding: “At the end of the registration period we will also analyse the pledge amounts and allocate tickets to the more expensive seats to those making the highest pledge.”

Details of the ticket pricing structure have been removed from the website.

However, at Monday night’s announcement it was said that tickets would be priced from £55 to £289, plus shipping.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Flem 18's latest video brought up the similarity between this situation and the ticket sale debacle back during the Victory tour. It's very similar but in a more PR friendly way--with charity donations instead of lining promoter's pockets. It's just to spark controversy.

I agree. They can't let people forget! Thats why everyone seems a little confused about the process of actually getting a ticket. You have to donate to a charity on top of the ticket price. It does seem a little crazy! MJ crazy ;)

From what we've seen lately, I would say not! Like mentioned earlier, I think all of this is to attract attention. And for a good cause I'm sure if Mother Katherine is involved :)

I just wanted to share this website article with you guys. It's a prime example of how wrong the media can get things. I am not sure if this was intentional, or if the person who wrote it just did not get the facts. It states that the family denies support of the Cardiff concert....I guess the guy didn't see the press conference? Anyways.....hope everyone is doing well.

Here is the part of the article, followed by the website for it:

July 27, 2011Michael Jackson’s estate is displeased with a tribute concert to be held in Cardiff, Wales this October 8. The family denies support, stating that they did not authorize the concert to use Michael’s name. The concert is to be called "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert." Michael’s brothers Jermaine and Randy have also expressed discomfort in the fact that the concert is being held during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor being charged with voluntary manslaughter in Michael’s name. According to Rolling Stone, they support the idea of the concert, but feel that "the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name."
http://www.fmqb.com/article.asp?id=2247364&spid=1314

Blessings Always
