http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/45224841/ns/today-entertainment/t/conrad-murray-talks-about-why-he-didnt-call/#.Trq4ukOa9tM

Conrad Murray told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie that he didn't call 911 when Michael Jackson stopped breathing because emergency responders would not have been able to get through the gate to the singer's home.
"No one is allowed to come upstairs except for Mr. Jackson," he said.
"You called his bodyguard," Guthrie said to Murray, who was the singer's personal physician when he died in 2009. "Couldn't you have said, 'Call 911, and meet 'em at the gate?"
Murray responded that he didn't want to "leave a full explanation on the phone," and that he didn't think Jackson's employee would return his call. Instead he began giving cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and a guard at Jackson's rented Los Angeles mansion eventually called the emergency number 20 minutes later.

Guthrie's interview with Murray will air Thursday and Friday on TODAY. The MSNBC documentary "Michael Jackson and The Doctor" will premiere on MSNBC Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
(TODAY.com is powered by msnbc.com, which is a joint venture between Microsoft and NBC Universal.)
On Monday, Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 death of the pop star. He is now in jail awaiting sentencing on Nov. 29. He faces up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.

Murray also told Guthrie that he didn't tell the paramedics on the scene that Jackson had been given propofol because "it was inconsequential" as the effects of the drug would have worn off by that time. When Guthrie asked why not supply the information anyway, he insisted the drug "had no effect."
The doctor has been criticized for leaving the room to use his cell phone while the singer slept, and for making phone calls and sending texts and emails while Jackson was apparently dying. Murray told Guthrie that Jackson had finally fallen asleep and was in no need of his presence.
"Am I gonna sit over him, sit around him, tug on his feet, do anything unusual to wake him up?" Murray said of leaving the singer alone. "No."
Story: Conrad Murray may spend just months in jail
Murray also says he felt that just three days before Jackson's death, the singer was successfully weaned off of the surgical anesthetic propofol upon which he depended for sleep. When Guthrie questioned why he had left the singer in a situation where he might have a chance to inject himself with the drug, something that was suggested by Murray's defense team, the doctor said "that was not a foreseeable situation."
Guthrie also asked Murray why, when he felt he shouldn't be giving Jackson propofol, he didn't walk away from his $150,000 a month position as Jackson's personal physician.
"I should have walked away," Murray said. "But if also I walked away, I would have abandoned a friend."

Now, what puzzles me is how did he do this interview when there was a GAG order in place up until the verdict??? WTF??

  • Michael Jackson doctor calls singer an "addict"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The doctor convicted of manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death has called the "Thriller" singer a drug "addict" in a television interview that will air on morning talk show "Today" this week.

Dr. Conrad Murray, who now sits in a Los Angeles jail awaiting sentencing for involuntary manslaughter, spoke to NBC News journalist Savannah Guthrie before the verdict was returned at his trial on Monday. The interview will air in two parts on Thursday and Friday on NBC's "Today" show.

The personal physician to Jackson never testified during his six-week trial stemming from the entertainer's June 2009 death of an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and sedatives.

Murray admitted to police that he gave Jackson those drugs as a sleep aid at the singer's mansion, but his attorneys argued the singer self-injected a fatal dose of propofol.

During the NBC interview, Guthrie asked the doctor if he was right to leave Jackson alone in his bedroom knowing he could self-inject the drug. Murray said he could not have foreseen that possibility.

"Had I known what I know today in retrospect, that Mr. Jackson was an addict, and he had shared that information with me, addicts may behave in a way that is unreasonable and you may consider it," Murray said in the interview.

Murray's attorneys had argued during his trial that Jackson was addicted to the painkiller Demerol that he received from another doctor in the weeks before his death, but they barely mentioned any possible addiction to propofol.

Jackson's family has denied that Jackson was addicted to Demerol, and an autopsy did not reveal any amount of that painkiller in the singer's system.

In the interview, Murray also suggested it could be acceptable to administer propofol in a home, despite testimony of doctors at his trial who said they would never do that. "I think propofol is not recommended to be given in the home setting, but it is not contraindicated," Murray told Guthrie.

Propofol expert Dr. Steven Shafer testified for prosecutors during the trial and disputed the defense's theory that Jackson had self-injected the drug. Instead, Murray likely set up an intravenous drip of propofol for Jackson that stopped his breathing, Shafer said.

Murray also defended the fact that he allowed over 20 minutes to elapse between the time he discovered Jackson had stopped breathing and when an ambulance was called.

"No one is allowed to come upstairs except for Mr. Jackson. His security is not allowed to enter the house," Murray said.

The physician first alerted the Jackson family chef, then called the singer's assistant, according to trial testimony.

Murray will also appear in a tell-all documentary called "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" to air on Friday on MSNBC.

The physician, who faces the possible loss of his medical license as a result of his involuntary manslaughter conviction, will return before a judge for a hearing on November 29, when he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/michael-jackson-doctor-calls-singer-addict-175621605.html

    /pull hair/

It better be a hoax or something has to be done to his lies!
And really, why not tell it in the courtroom? Aw, afraid of Walgren maybe?

Because he probably sold "exclusive rights" to the story, hence the reason he never spoke in court. Probably was a contractual condition conducive to payment or he could of forefited the rights to payment if he spoke out prior. Don't know. Just guessing, but it's seems like it's all about $$$$$

Yes. He didn't even get to the stand and defend himself because he had to be found guilty according to the script. This is the only explanation imo.

Yup, it's looking that way isn't it?

I'll wait till I've watched it tonight (sincerely hope the 'justice' people don't get it pulled!) - then I'll answer my own question!

I just watched the whole documentary here in Australia, and OMG...where do I start....

Firstly, Conrad Murray seems to be restoring MJ's image, and talks about Michael crying almost every night, about the abuse that happenned to him, and that MJ still wet his bed every night, because of the trauma of the abuse...He wouldn't elaborate about exactly how bad it was, but you could tell, it was extreme...

We were shown the Las Vegas Hotel were Conrad was living, and he tells about some fun times they had there. Is this where the call came from or possibly where MJ is living now????

We then move to Flannagan and Chernoff's house, and get this: Flannagan and his wife are letting Chernoff live with them.....because they are doing this PROBONO...(for free) and Chernoff doesn't have any money.....lol He smokes cigars just like Joe Esposito, and Frank DiLeo..lol

Flannagan forgets Conrad Murrays name and calls him Dr Murphy....or whoever.......

Another huge thing for the hoax sake is Murray saying he never knew what he was getting himself into, and before he could tell MJ he can't do this anymore...MJ had died...but he felt "Entraped".

It gets a little too emotional towards the end, and finished with Murray sobbing about that day he lost a friend and a patient.... and he had to cut short that end bit....

But I must say, the whole thing seems to be an image restoration for Michael's sake, and it did make me feel sad for Murray, but I keep telling myself that this is all a movie and hoax.

But what interests me is the acting part......all three seem to do the job really well, and you would think that they have done this before.........acting that is.............

I also have just watched this tonight here in Australia.......have to be quick because I have to eat my dinner with family :) will comment more later.

Many many things in this......I don't have time to comment now but just wanted to get on and tell believers on the other side of the world where it hasn't screened yet......please watch...this doco is heart wrenchingly amazing and very emotional BUT there is sooooo much in it and soooo many funny and wtf moments. It's definitely a roller coaster from absolutely hilarious between Flannagan and Chernoff to very very emotional. There are parts in it where I felt extremely overwhelmed about what Michael endured as a child.

iPad dude makes an appearance too!! There is talk about Thriller from Dr M and a picture of the Moonwalker poster too...what more can I say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The acting is amazing/obvious...even my hubs......a sort of non-believer (he vascillates between "believing" and thinking I'm delusional...lol) watched it with me and reckoned it was all a VERY good act! bounce/

Ahhh yes it ended with the Man in the Mirror.

Not sure if this thread is about the Fatal Friendship doc or the Today interview or both? I just watched the documentary. Have a defense team ever allowed this type of documentary of their preparation for a case? There were a lot of things said that would be appalling from Dr Murray and the defense team if this was real. In a real scenario a person should be protected from slander after death and their privacy should be protected from this kind of exposure.

I want to add to my post above that there are parts in this when I really felt in my gut that Dr Murray is actually played by Michael. I can't help it. In the courtroom maybe he wasn't played by MJ - I'm not sure there (and I know there was alot of debate between us about this matter)...but in this doco I felt he really was Michael. It was the raw emotions in certain parts AND HIS EYES!!! (and when you watch you will know where I mean)..where he cried and talked about things that happened in Michael's childhood and what he went through.

IDK it really affected me and added a whole entire dimension for me as to what this hoax is really about and what horrendous things really happened to Michael as a child and I am coming from the perspective of powerful people outside his family.....not the stories the media have perpetuated about his dad Joe.

As a consequence who/what really is the sting /vendetta against to expose? is it really the pharmaceutical industry? is it really corrupt doctors peddling prescription drugs? or is it something far far more sinister and more wide ranging throughout the world and in the "entertainment" industry? My mind is in a whirl.
• Did you say that conrad alluded that Michael STILL WETS HIS BED? WTF?? Is this related to the “baby” remarks in court? I did not see it. I’m just asking for clarity.

Yes, Murray said MJ still wets his bed most nights, and it's has nothing to do with the medication...WTF

Murray also said he had a spiritual awakening on 15th July 2009"

He claims it is a "David and Goliath" situation...and the he was the Goliath to the whole world.

And yes, I do agree that its seem a little too similar to MJ

lol.....that was funny..."Dr Murphy" reminded me of Murphy's Law "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law ;)

That part also reminded me of the day in the courtroom when Flannagan referred to MJ as "Mr Lorazapam" hahahaha

The conversations/disagreements in this doco between Flannagan and Chernoff were a classic! Chernoff kept walking off in disgust from Flanny at his offensive/inane comments......it was hilarious yet very serious at the same time....a juxtaposition! The look on Dr White's face at one stage when he was witnessing the banter between these two was Oscar worthy......seriously!

When are the Oscars by the way? February 26 2012??....hmm 2:26 ......that number ring a bell anyone?
How were they able to use Michael's image and songs? Have they got permission of image/name/songs' use from The Estate? I know that The Estate said that any use of Michael's songs, image, anything, has to be approved by The Estate, as they are in charge with it. Any unauthorized use is copyright infringment. How is that possible? Branca released a letter against this but still they didn't do anything to stop it. Words equal zero.

Anna....just watch it first before you start aggressively questioning and you will understand.

They do not play ANY of Michael's music/songs at all in this, so therefore they don't need permission.....watch and you will see what I mean.... (I hope)

In regards to the name "Murphy" all I can think of is Murphy's Law: anything that can go wrong, will go wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law

I said because you said "Ahhh yes it ended with the Man in the Mirror" If I understood wrong, then sorry. I haven't watched it as it didn't air here yet. But anyway, I don't want to see it, I just found it strange, I understood you meant the song.

I don't know...It seems that a story ABOUT Michael, his private life would HAVE to have permission from the estate. Even without his music, do they show his image? They show his personal belongings? IT IS Michael's story!
I DO believe that Michael is behind this, of course...could anyone see credits after the show?
I guess I'll have to watch it :(
Did it change anyone's mind about anything?

That's OK. I really do think you should watch it though if it is being aired where you live. It may help relieve some doubts you are having after the trial verdict.

So much in this doco is obviously scripted and the acting is quite comedic in parts and very serious in others. Even my husband who, at best, is a fence sitter in the believer stakes thought so!

:)

I can't recall if an image of MJ from the 2005 trial was shown ...I need to watch again. The only personal belongings pics they show are those which were entered as evidence during the trial from his bathroom and bedroom. Also - I didn't manage to catch the end credits as I was trying to feed my 3 kids lol

It certainly did not change my mind about anything. In fact it reinforced even more to me that Michael is alive and directing this entire adventure. I really think you should watch it if you get the chance.
