Is this true? I haven't heard anything about her being sick and battling cancer till now.  This is so sad if it's true.  Wow....here we go again...watching like hawks to see if there is anything that seems 'strange' about this passing.

<br /><br />I never heard she was ill either, and there is no use in googling, because all you get is news about her death. I think she kept it private.

I am so sad.  I didn't know she was ill either.  I love her!  I am meeting my best friend for dinner this evening, we had the times of our lives when we were young at the disco dancing to Donna's music.  I love Last Dance, Mac Arthur Park and so many more.  Rest in peace Donna, thank you for the time of my life.

Very sad.<br /><br />I'm really starting to associate TMZ with death because that's usually where I hear of someone's passing.<br /><br />Their latest update:<br /><br />"9:27 AM PST- TMZ has learned ... Donna died from lung cancer.  Several sources are telling us Donna believed she contracted it by inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City.<br /><br />9:35 AM PST- Donna's family just released a statement, claiming, they "are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy."<br /><br />

Very sad! I don't blame her for keeping her illness quiet - the media is ruthless. RIP Donna :(
  • :icon_e_sad:<br /><br />Rest in Peace, Donna. <br />Your beautiful songs will live forever, thank you.

    <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I read somewhere that some firefighters who worked to rescue victims of 9/11 have contracted cancer.

I was just watching Ellen, and she just danced to Michael's "don't stop till you get enough", and then the song they played was Donna Summer's "hot stuff"...the weird thing is that today's show was taped yesterday! Now what are the chances of the those songs being played back to back, and then finding out that Donna Summer died today??? Makes you go hmmmmm....

I remember dancing to Donna Summer's music at the local disco when I was a teenager......this is sad news.<br /><br />Like others here - I had not heard that she had been ill either - but she may have kept it quiet.

Sad news.  :icon_e_sad: I loved her song "She works hard for the money" when I was a teenager.<br />In 2009 she sang "Smile" as a tribute for Michael:<br />
  • RIP Donna - may you have the assurance of no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow. I hope you are truly at peace. Thank you for the wonderful memories through your songs. God bless you.<br /><br />This is sad news - she's much too young to leave us.<br /><br />Blessings

Her untimely death reminds me of the words of a song “the leaning tree is not always the first to fall”.  A few weeks ago we were all praying for Gibb, and he pulled through.  We were ready to accept his passing.  But God had other plans for him.  Now Donna Summer has died and no one even knew she was sick.  Just proves again that we are not in control of anything where life and death is concerned.  Sometimes it just comes out of nowhere and we just have to learn to accept it.  :icon_e_sad:
