    I have this book. I ordered it online a few months ago. I think it just means the photos were authorized by Michael to be published at the time of the photoshoot.

    Authorized is spelled like that in UK and here in Australia too. So maybe the author of this book wrote it like that. Just a thought though

    Maybe this is like an updated version or something, if you follow the amazon link above in one of the comments you can see people's comments from 2002 so im kind of confussed becuase seriously if it's after 2009 how can MJ authorize it <!-- s:? -->:?<!-- s:? --> This certanly should get non believers thinking lol.

    Also,here are some other things to consider when assuming this is too odd

    1. it is an OMNIBUS meaning it a compilation of several things together. Authors do this when they have several books out and compile them all into a cheaper slimmed down version.

    2. It says "Fifth Edition" under the publishing information. Sorry, I don't believe you can be first published AND a 5th edition on the same date.

    Greetings everyone,

    There is something I would like to clarify in regards to this issue.
    This book actually consists of 2 different compilations in 1, namely "A VISUAL DOCUMENTARY" and "THE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE EDITION". (The two titles are highlighted in red on the book cover.)
    "THE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE EDITION" was only added and re-published after his death. Mr.Jackson only approved "A VISUAL DOCUMENTARY", but NOT "THE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE EDITION".

    This explains the reason of why the stamp of "Authorised by Michael Jackson" is positioned under the title of "A VISUAL DOCUMENTARY". (If you did notice.)

    To cut the long story short, "A VISUAL DOCUMENTARY" was an earlier version published after Mr.Jackson's authorization, whilst "THE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE EDITION" is just an addition after his unfortunate passing, which has not been authorized.
