Hey, was the phone in a box? Was it wrapped in plastic? Maybe someone returned it?

Unless they are all built in with these photos.

I think it was brand new you know...so they must be built in

Off topic slightly but that happened to my friend and she got her phone home thinking it was new out the box but they had had it returned, not told her and when she went through it it was full of porn.
    hahahahahaha.Her face was priceless.

On the one hand..do you think it could just solely be a marketing ploy? I mean let's face it, he's a huge commodity right now. Everything Michael-related is selling like crazy! By adding pictures of him to things, maybe it's just a marketing tactic?

Personally, I don't think Sony would buy into the sunflowers, etc., just for marketing. You have to remember that there are lots of people that have no idea what the sunflower now represents.

For me, I'm beginning to wonder if Michael really did mean...I own 1/2 of Sony...instead of what we think he meant. LOL. Either way, I think Sony is neck deep into this hoax right along with Coca-Cola. Between this and Teddy Riley I'm having a great weekend! Please, God, oh please, don't let this end!!!
I absolutely agree. 'This is it.' This is part of the not a Michael Jackson come-back but a take-over.
  • The phone was brand new, I bought it from Vodafone. It was wrapped in a box and clearly nobody touched it before. I also had to set everything..starting from language to email account to downloading SW updates etc.

Those pics were just there, believe it or not. And I don't think this is marketing either, cause like we've been saying, how many people would connect the sunflowers? And what's got History album cover got to do with anything recent? If I were a non-believer I'd just think it's some silly coincidence and the sunflowers would be just a wallpaper to me. And if I were not a fan at all, I wouldn't of recognized the History album cover at all, cus it was sooo tiny (yet zoomed) that it appeared very blured on the phone screen.

So I really don't know what's the purpose of putting those pics in there...but I'd like to know if they're in all phones from SE or at least that model (Xperia mini, by the way).

It is possible. Every phone has in its menu a folder with wallpapers that you can't delete. They are coming with the phone, as well as some ringtones. They are provided with the phone and cannot be deleted.

I don't think it is a coincidence, they are there. Plain and simple. Sony put them in the menu when they released the cell phone model.

if someone returned it, they would've changed the battery and the battery holds all of the data like photos, so they would have been deleted if it were a returned phone.
  • As imissyouMJ says,if you don't buy the phone, you would never know...Chloe didn't even know until she went to use the camera on the phone and she has had it a few weeks already. It isn't advertised or listed on the specs on the box before you buy.

Uh-huh! That's why I say how could it be a marketing ploy? Just like you said, "It isn't advertised or listed on the specs on the box before you buy." <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

I want to know what happened to the TII phone/dvd/whatever package.
I never saw that advertised anywhere,on either side of the Atlantic and there is only a few google search results for it too..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

    Maybe it was
    MAKE.BELIEVE
Just like This is it lol.

That is a very strange slogan for a company to have if you think about it.
Especially if you sell products like phones which people require to be high standard products and put faith in the manufacturer that it is a 100% BELIEVEABLE investment.Phones are not cheap now days,no one wants or is going to spend $400/sign a contract on a phone they have no faith in.
Sony have said(link below)that the new slogan is to enforce their credibility within the phone industry as well as entertainment platforms and their partnership with Ericsson, which doesn't make sense because the phrase 'make believe' is associated with fairytales and them being fictional and fake.
    Make believe
    vb
To pretend or enact a fantasy
    a. a fantasy, pretence, or unreality
    b. a make-believe,fake world
    2. a person who pretends

NOPE.And really..they could have done better than the HIStory album cover if they were going to use an MJ related picture...which makes me think why that one..highly suspect.

Ok so now we need someone with Xperia mini...and see if they have the history album cover there. Freaking weird!
And I agree with Sind that the slogan Make.Believe makes absolutely no sense. And it's a Sony slogan, so it's not just for SE phones...it's for anything SONY, I think. So that's even weirder. You want to make ppl believe SONY TV is worth buying because....??? The fake element in the notion of Make.Believe is undeniable. I think that's one of the WORST SLOGANS ever...unless...ya know...

Does anyone know WHEN Sony started using Make Believe as their slogan? I seem to remember seeing it in TV ads quite a while back but I could be wrong. Time to go do some researching again.... <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->

At IFA 2009, Sony announced ‘make.believe’ (pronounced: make dot believe), as its new Group-wide brand message, replacing ‘like.no.other’. Symbolizing Sony’s spirit of creativity and innovation, it is the first time Sony has introduced a single overarching brand message for all of its entertainment and electronics businesses around the globe. ‘make.believe’ unites Sony’s communication efforts across electronics, games, movies, music, mobile phones and network services. Sony has stated that ‘Believe’ is the power of inspiration, while ‘make’ is about crafting inspiration into products and experiences for our consumers. The ‘dot’ is the place where they meet.

Last week, CEO/President Howard Stringer announced the ‘make.believe’ slogan and campaigned it internally with a supplementary video, and the reaction has been positive. I feel that this is a good marketing transformation for Sony as they move forward into 2010 with exciting new products and technologies. It’s easy for me to say that Sony’s current offerings are light years beyond what they sold in the past five years, with many products embracing open standards and network connectivity is finally taking center stage. Consumers are now able to believe that they can make anything with Sony products, and not be restricted by closed formats and restrictive DRM.

According to what I dug up it was the beginning of September 2009, which is when it was announced at IFA 2009. I just answered my own question for a change! <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->
