This is so interesting! Yes I also thought "Back". The painting looks to me also of him watching earth from outerspace, while sitting perhaps on a throne. The earth could be burning, or it's the dawn of a new age/aion, as in the start of the 1000 year reign of Christ. It also reminds me of the Earth poem that MJ wrote and recites so beautifully as if viewing from his "chair".

The sphinx in the sky as Leo is so fascinating, and your info Serenitys_Dream. Wow! Vivant Denon drew this image of the Sphinx of Giza around 1798, prior to its defacement. This image and written account (a part of the collection) is from the 1803 issue of Universal Magazine. From that same magazine, here is the written account in Denon's own words, "...Though its proportions are colossal, the outline is pure and graceful; the expression of the head is mild, gracious, and tranquil; the character is African, but the mouth, and lips of which are thick, has a softness and delicacy of execution truly admirable; it seems real life and flesh. Art must have been at a high pitch when this monument was executed; for, if the head wants what is called style, that is the say, the straight and bold lines which give expression to the figures under which the Greeks have designated their deities, yet sufficient justice has been rendered to the fine simplicity and character of nature which is displayed in this figure..." -- order postcard of Sphinx of Giza

In Egyptian history, the snake occupies a primary role with the Nile cobra adorning the crown of the pharaoh in ancient times. It was worshipped as one of the gods and was also used for sinister purposes: murder of an adversary and ritual suicide (Cleopatra).
Medusa by 16th Century Italian artist Caravaggio.

In Greek mythology snakes are often associated with deadly and dangerous antagonists, but this is not to say that snakes are symbolic of evil; in fact, snakes are a chthonic symbol, roughly translated as 'earthbound'. The nine-headed Lernaean Hydra that Hercules defeated and the three Gorgon sisters are children of Gaia, the earth.[71] Medusa was one of the three Gorgon sisters who Perseus defeated.[71] Medusa is described as a hideous mortal, with snakes instead of hair and the power to turn men to stone with her gaze.[71] After killing her, Perseus gave her head to Athena who fixed it to her shield called the Aegis.[71] The Titans are also depicted in art with snakes instead of legs and feet for the same reason—they are children of Gaia and Ouranos (Uranus), so they are bound to the earth.

Three medical symbols involving snakes that are still used today are Bowl of Hygieia, symbolizing pharmacy, and the Caduceus and Rod of Asclepius, which are symbols denoting medicine in general.[32]

India is often called the land of snakes and is steeped in tradition regarding snakes.[72] Snakes are worshipped as gods even today with many women pouring milk on snake pits (despite snakes' aversion for milk).[72] The cobra is seen on the neck of Shiva and Vishnu is depicted often as sleeping on a seven-headed snake or within the coils of a serpent.[73] There are also several temples in India solely for cobras sometimes called Nagraj (King of Snakes) and it is believed that snakes are symbols of fertility. There is a Hindu festival called Nag Panchami each year on which day snakes are venerated and prayed to. See also Nāga.

In India there is another mythology about snakes. Commonly known in Hindi as "Ichchhadhari" snakes. Such snakes can take the form of any living creature, but prefer human form. These mythical snakes possess a valuable gem called "Mani", which is more brilliant than diamond. There are many stories in India about greedy people trying to possess this gem and ending up getting killed.

The Ouroboros is a symbol associated with many different religions and customs, and is claimed to be related to Alchemy. The Ouroboros or Oroboros is a snake eating its own tail in a clock-wise direction (from the head to the tail) in the shape of a circle, representing manifestation of one's own life and rebirth, leading to immortality.

The snake is one of the 12 celestial animals of Chinese Zodiac, in the Chinese calendar.

Many ancient Peruvian cultures worshipped nature.[74] They emphasized animals and often depicted snakes in their art

Finally, note that the photographs of Arno Bani will be exposed to the public on 11 and 12 December from 11am to 22h and December 13th from 11am to 15h. The sale will begin on 13 to 20h at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild

Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild - Solomon Hotel of Rothschild
Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild at 11. rue Berryer in the 8th arrondissement in Paris, France, is a former residence of Adèle Hannah Charlotte Rothschild (1843–1922), the widow of Salomon James de Rothschild of the Rothschild banking family of France. Designed by Leon Ohnet and constructed between 1872 and 1878, it is located in the heart of Paris, near the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

On her death in 1922, the Jewish Adèle Rothschild bequeathed the property to the French government fine arts administration rather than to her only child, Hélène de Rothschild whom she had disinherited for marrying a Roman Catholic.

Today the building is home to Centre National de la Photographie and its renowned garden is open to the public. The following cultural and socio-educational organizations currently are in the building:

    The Rothschild Family
The Rothschild family (known as The House of Rothschild, or more simply as the Rothschilds) is a European dynasty of German Jewish origin that established European banking and finance houses from the late eighteenth century. Five lines of the Austrian branch of the family were elevated into the Austrian nobility, being given hereditary baronies of the Habsburg Empire by Emperor Francis II in 1816. The British branch of the family was elevated into the British nobility by Queen Victoria. It has been argued that during the 19th century, the family as a whole possessed by far the largest private fortune in the world, and by far the largest fortune in modern history.

    Rothschild Banking Family of France
The Rothschild banking family of France was founded in 1812 in Paris by James Mayer Rothschild (1792–1868). James was sent there from his home in Frankfurt, Germany by his father, Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812). Wanting his sons to succeed on their own and to expand the family business across Europe, Mayer Amschel Rothschild had his eldest son remain in Frankfurt, while his four other sons were sent to different European cities to establish a financial institution to invest in business and provide banking services. Endogamy within the family was an essential part of the Rothschild strategy in order to ensure control of their wealth remained in family hands.

In the book of Numbers 13 Moses was leading the Israelites to the Promised Land. When they were on the verge of entering, Yahweh [Enlil], flying high in his pillar of light, ordered them to stop short and to send out some spies to search the land of Canaan. In actuality, this was a search for the secrets of the Anunnaki, and E.A. One of Moses’ operatives was Joshua the “Son of Nun,” meaning ‘fish’. In the protosiniatic Hebrew alphabet glyphs the letter nun was drawn as a serpent. Nun means eternally regenerating life (in cycles because of the serpent’s shedding of its skin as it grows) or immortality.

    There's also the serpent in the Garden of Eden. <!-- s:? -->:?<!-- s:? -->
  • Atum
Atum (alternatively spelled Tem, Temu, Tum, and Atem) is an important deity in Egyptian mythology, whose cult centred on the city of Heliopolis (Egyptian: Annu). His name is thought to be derived from the word 'tem' which means to complete or finish. Thus he has been interpreted as being the 'complete one' and also the finisher of the world, which he returns to watery chaos at the end of the creative cycle. As creator he was seen as the underlying substance of the world, the deities and all things being made of his flesh or alternatively being his ka.

Atum is one of the most important and frequently mentioned deities from earliest times, as evidenced by his prominence in the Pyramid Texts, where he is portrayed as both a creator and father to the king. He is usually depicted as a man wearing either the royal head-cloth or the dual white and red crown of Upper Egypt, and Lower Egypt, reinforcing his connection with kingship. Sometimes he also is shown as a serpent, the form which he returns to at the end of the creative cycle and also occasionally as a mongoose, lion, bull, lizard, or ape.

In the Heliopolitan creation myth established in the sixth dynasty, he was considered to be the first god, having created himself, sitting on a mound (benben) (or identified with the mound itself), from the primordial waters (Nu). Early myths state that Atum created the god Shu and goddess Tefnut from spitting or from his semen by masturbation in Heliopolis.

Atum was a self-created deity, the first being to emerge from the darkness and endless watery abyss that girdled the world before creation. A product of the energy and matter contained in this chaos, he created divine and human beings through loneliness: alone in the universe, he produced from his own semen Shu, the god of air, and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. The brother and sister, curious about the primeval waters that surrounded them went to explore the- and disappeared into the darkness. Unable to bear his loss, Atum sent a fiery messenger to find his children. The tears of joy he shed on their return were the first human beings.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atum

Atum was also associated with the earth and the underworld—likely due to his role in the creation of the cosmos. In this guise, he was often depicted as a primordial serpent or eel.

    Ra
Ra (alternately spelled Ré),is the ancient Egyptian sun god. By the Fifth Dynasty he had become a major deity in ancient Egyptian religion, identified primarily with the mid-day sun. The meaning of the name is uncertain, but it is thought that if not a word for 'sun' it may be a variant of or linked to words meaning 'creative power' and 'creator'.

The chief cult centre of Ra was Heliopolis (called Iunu, "Place of Pillars", in Egyptian), where he was identified with the local sun-god Atum. Through Atum, or as Atum-Ra he was also seen as the first being and the originator of the Ennead, consisting of Shu and Tefnut, Geb and Nut, Osiris, Set, Isis and Nephthys.

In later Egyptian dynastic times, Ra was merged with the god Horus, as Re-Horakhty ("Ra, who is Horus of the Two Horizons"). He was believed to rule in all parts of the created world the sky, the earth, and the underworld. He was associated with the falcon or hawk. When in the New Kingdom the god Amun rose to prominence he was fused with Ra as Amun-Ra.

During the Amarna Period, Akhenaten suppressed the cult of Ra in favour of another solar deity, the Aten, the deified solar disc, but after the death of Akhenaten the cult of Ra was restored.

The cult of the Mnevis bull, an embodiment of Ra, had its centre in Heliopolis and there was a formal burial ground for the sacrificed bulls north of the city.

All forms of life were believed to have been created by Ra, who called each of them into existence by speaking their secret names. Alternatively humans were created from Ra's tears and sweat, hence the Egyptians call themselves the "Cattle of Ra."

    Aten
Aten (also Aton, Egyptian jtn) the disk of the sun in ancient Egyptian mythology, and originally an aspect of Ra.

He became the focused upon deity of the arguably monolatristic, henotheistic, or even monistic religion of Atenism established by Amenhotep IV, who later took the name Akhenaten in worship and recognition of Aten. In his poem "Great Hymn to the Aten", Akhenaten praises Aten as the creator, and giver of life. Some scholars have speculated that Psalm 104 may have been influenced by this hymn.

The worship of Aten was eradicated by Horemheb possibly as a damnation of memory against Ay whom he replaced as pharoah.

The full title of Akhenaten's god was The Rahorus who rejoices in the horizon, in his/her Name of the Light which is seen in the sun disc. (This is the title of the god as it appears on the numerous stelae which were placed to mark the boundaries of Akhenaten's new capital at Akhetaten, modern Amarna.) This lengthy name was often shortened to Ra-Horus-Aten or just Aten in many texts, but the god of Akhenaten raised to supremacy is considered a synthesis of very ancient gods viewed in a new and different way.
Relief dated 1350BC of the sun disk of Aten

Both Ra and Horus characteristics are part of the god, but the god is also considered to be both masculine and feminine simultaneously. All creation was thought to emanate from the god and to exist within the god. In particular, the god was not depicted in anthropomorphic (human) form, but as rays of light extending from the sun's disk. Furthermore, the god's name came to be written within a cartouche, along with the titles normally given to a Pharaoh, another break with ancient tradition.

The Aten, the sun-disk, first appears in texts dating to the 12th dynasty, in The Story of Sinuhe, where the deceased king is described as rising as god to the heavens and uniting with the sun-disk, the divine body merging with its maker.

Ra-Horus, more usually referred to as Ra-Herakhty (Ra, who is Horus of the two horizons), is a synthesis of two other gods, both of which are attested from very early on. During the Amarna period, this synthesis was seen as the invisible source of energy of the sun god, of which the visible manifestation was the Aten, the solar disk. Thus Ra-Horus-Aten was a development of old ideas which came gradually. The real change, as some see it, was the apparent abandonment of all other gods, above all Amun, and the debatable introduction of monotheism by Akhenaten. The syncretism is readily apparent in the Great Hymn to the Aten in which Re-Herakhty, Shu and Aten are merged into the creator god. Others see Akhenaten as a practitioner of an Aten monolatry, as he did not actively deny the existence of other gods; he simply refrained from worshipping any but the Aten.

    The Uraeus

    king_tut.gif

The uraeus was the image of the Egyptian cobra (Naja haje), worn in the front of the king's headdress. Here the snake represents the snake goddess Wadjet, associated with the Lower Egyptian sanctuary of Buto. Her counterpart was the vulture goddess Nekhbet of Hierakonpolis in Upper Egypt. Wadjet acted as a mythical mother and midwife of the king. At Tuna el-Gebel, mummified cobras have been found amongst the millions of other animals in the great animal catacombs.

  • Snake scales
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation , search Jump to: navigation , search

Elaborately shaped scales on the head of a Vine snake, Ahaetulla nasuta . Snakes , like other reptiles , have a skin covered in scales . [ 1 ] Snakes are entirely covered with scales or scutes of various shapes and sizes. Scales protect the body of the snake, aid it in locomotion, allow moisture to be retained within, alter the surface characteristics such as roughness to aid in camouflage, and in some cases even aid in prey capture (such as Acrochordus ). The simple or complex colouration patterns (which help in camouflage and anti-predator display) are a property of the underlying skin, but the folded nature of scaled skin allows bright skin to be concealed between scales then revealed in order to startle predators.

Scales have been modified over time to serve other functions such as 'eyelash' fringes, and protective covers for the eyes [ 2 ] with the most distinctive modification being the rattle of the North American rattlesnakes.

Snakes periodically moult their scaly skins and acquire new ones. This permits replacement of old worn out skin, disposal of parasites and is thought to allow the snake to grow. The arrangement of scales is Used to identify snake species.

Snakes have been part and parcel of culture and religion. Vivid scale patterns have been thought to have influenced early art. The use of snake-skin in manufacture of purses, apparel and other articles led to large-scale killing of snakes, giving rise to advocacy for use of artificial snake-skin. Also Snake scales are to be found as motifs in fiction, video games and movies.

2 elements of the above info is striking to me:
1=>Michael's wearing a snakeskin could also mean he's in disguise like a snake with its camouflage skin. Replacement of old worn snakeskin means Michael returns, end of disguise, after disposal of parasites (media eo).
2=>Also Snake scales are to be found as motifs in fiction, video games and movies. These motifs are significant to Michael as we know.

    shawl.jpg

What's the Wrapture word signify? And notice the word "back" is also in there. The Rapture is Evangelical Christianity's term for the catching away of born again Christians in the air to be with Jesus, most believe will happen before the 7 years of tribulation, called Pre-trib theory.
    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
    Also 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
Personally in my own study, I believe the catching away part will come after the 7 year tribulation of world cataclysmic events as described in Revelation, and it will involve UFO's. Then will usher in a new aion, of the thousand year reign of Christ, ruling with a rod of iron. This is the first resurrection. The second resurrection is the vast remainder of humanity after that 1000 year period, after which will occur the judgment in which all will have their eyes and hearts open to truth and love, and ALL will become reconciled to their Creator to live forever, to rule and reign over perhaps other planets. Limitless. Just my conclusions.

Christ's ascention, as depicted in the stained glass over Michael's so-called crypt, is to be an example of how we will all rise in one of the 2 ressurrections. Acts 1 9-11
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
It doesn't take you too much study of Scripture to realize there is often a handy little cloud or sky chariots around when miraculous things happen. I believe those are UFO's. Sometimes it's just the Spirit of the Lord that does the transporting, as in disciple Philip's case. Acts 8:38-40.
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.
Just my way of trying to connect ALL the dots.

But this REALLY caught my eye from the wiki page[/b]
In India there is another mythology about snakes. Commonly known in Hindi as "Ichchhadhari" snakes. Such snakes can take the form of any living creature, but prefer human form. These mythical snakes possess a valuable gem called "Mani", which is more brilliant than diamond. There are many stories in India about greedy people trying to possess this gem and ending up getting killed.

    Suicides Anyone?

Nail on the head. There you go again imconvinced.

    also:
Snakes periodically moult their scaly skins and acquire new ones. This permits replacement of old worn out skin, disposal of parasites and is thought to allow the snake to grow. The arrangement of scales is Used to identify snake species.

Nice mention, everlastinglove_MJ. Best thing about snake skin is it can be damaged or worn, and after a period of time it will shed to reveal a new layer of beautiful, flawless, brand new skin. This is a constant process through out the lifespan of the snake. Snakes do not appear to age over time due to this process and are particularly long lived.

Yeah they do. But not until they have drained the life out of them slowly but thoroughly.

Snakes use surprise as their method for catching prey. They blend into the back round waiting patiently for the unsuspecting quarry to wander within strike range.

Snakes are very methodical creatures. They lurk and have a tendency to pop up when least expected.

To me the gold shawl looks similar to the face on the "Shroud of Jesus Christ".
I saw a TV show about it this year, and it was really amazing how they took the Shroud and made an actual photo of the image.
    Sends chills down your spine.

All I can do though is smile because of "Michael's Back"!!!
