Do you really think Paul Anka is part of the hoax ? And the staff of this show ? I don't think so.
Nowadays, witch audio techniques, we can make an audio presume to be in live. Sorry for bad english...
  • The lyrics are different also, some verses are mingled... Just for connaiseurs and beLIEvers! <!-- s;) -->;)<!-- s;) -->

Before everyone gets so excited over what they think is a live performance...watch this interview with Paul Anka...it proves to me that he's another entertainer trying to use Michael for his own benefit and acting like he cares...this is exactly, in my opinion, why Michael faked his death to get away from these people.

I'm not convinced that Michael would collaborate live with him on this song. Anka gets half of song rights so of course he's going to be allowed to use it, but I don't think he's doing it as a tribute.

YEP! it is totally different from the CD-Version!!! And I couldn't remember of Michael ever singin TII live...I compared the CD version and this and the whole thing sounds different...It doesn't even sound like an "A capella version"...wow, weird, I had goosebumps

I was singing that song too lately and it seemed to end different than what I originally heard. ...whew... good to know I'm not REALLY going crazy... <!-- s8-) -->8-)<!-- s8-) -->

Thank you for this video...I'm rusty on this story.

I do hear a difference in the way the song is sung on the cd and then at the concert. Guess it'll still be some time before we know the truth!

"Now we know why this song was so good; It wasn't the type of song Michael Jackson would write." Please. I'm sure Paul must have known they were blowing smoke in his backside. I wouldn't have even repeated that. I don't know what the tiff was between he and Michael, but that song wasn't worth stealing. AND FOR ALL OF THOSE THAT DIDN'T SEE MY OTHER MANY POSTS REGARDING THIS SONG This is from the BMI database. I'm pretty sure it was always there. I remember checking it. Paul always had credit. I just don't know how it got to copyright without credit - although at one time I thought I saw it there also. But here it is from BMI and always was.

Thank you for posting this info, very interesting. I dont know much, I should say nothing really <!-- s:lol: --><!-- s:lol: --> , about these things so I have 1 question. How come or is there so many different dates of creation?
  • julietjuliet Posts: 491
SIMPLYME, thanks for the data/info. What I notice is that:
1)in earlier date 1984 - you see Michael 's name only
2)then in the later date 1991 - you see Paul & Michael's name

P.S. I can't sleep. Here I am. I noticed I made a misquote in my post about what Paul said. I meant to write that they told Paul It wasn't the kind of song Michael would write - not that it was.
Think I'll just go back and fix it.
  • simplymesimplyme Posts: 649
    @Juliet and Jennie.
First, the first one and the last one I posted are the same. I put the same thing twice by accident.

The 3 1991 Registrations are I think because Saphire recorded the song- 1 disc and 1 cassette.

On the first one at the top, it says "change in words and music" and also says there was a previous registration in 1983 I couldn't find it. I'll go back and look again when I have a chance. So I guess between the first reg and 1990 there was a change in the lyrics and composition. Since I can't find the 1983 reg. I can't be sure what that said but probably said both Paul and Michael.

Then Michael's with the different title was registered in 1984.

I'll look again for that other reg. But as you can see "This Is It" was in BMI. Still can't figure how it got to the copyright office w/ just Michael's name on it.
